‘Black Panther’ Star Chadwick Boseman Tears Up When Discussing Movie’s Impact

The stars of “Black Panther” sat down for a panel discussion hosted by Entertainment Weekly and Sirius FM to promote the movie.

During the panel discussion, Chadwick Boseman and the cast were asked about the movie’s potential impact on American pop culture.

Chadwick got teary eyed when he spoke about two kids he met while filming. The kids were stricken with a terminal cancer and fought hard through their treatment to be strong enough to see the movie. Unfortunately, both passed away.

As reported by Fox News, Boseman got teary eyed when talking about the kids and how the movie inspired them throughout their cancer fight.

Fox News writes:

“Throughout our filming, I was communicating with them, knowing they were both terminal. What they and their parents said to me was, they were trying to hold on till this movie comes,” Boseman said. “To a certain degree it’s a humbling experience because you’re like, this can’t mean that much to them. But seeing how the world has taken this on, I realize they anticipated something great. Thinking back now to when I was a kid, waiting for Christmas to come, waiting for my birthday to come, waiting for a toy I was going to get a chance to experience, or a video game, I did live life waiting for those moments. It put me back in the mind of being a kid and feeling those two boys’ anticipation of this movie. When I found out that they…”

With that, the star had to take a long moment to collect himself as tears ran down his face. After a pat from his co-stars and encouragement from the crowd, he concluded.

“Yeah, it means a lot.”

  1. This movie is such a big deal to so many people. I was watching the local news yesterday and this Mexican woman said that although she’s not black, she is happy to see a movie like this succeed. She feels like it’s a win for her too. I was surprised.

  2. Omg this just brought tears to my eyes at well. This movie means so much. Can’t wait to see it on Saturday.

Happy viewing to my fellow Kings and Queens, love yall. Be safe! 🙂
