Recently, reporter Jawn Murray is one of Mo’Nique’s biggest critics amid her criticisms of an offer she received from Netflix. He strongly defended Tyler Perry and Will Packer from Mo’s criticisms. Jawn even revealed an email exchange between Will Packer and Sidney Hicks.
Jawn claimed Mo’Nique’s recollection of the Netflix’s offer was false, showing his “evidence” received detailing how Mo’Nique would’ve received $3 million from the platform if she auditioned. Mo’Nique and Sidney denied and refuted these claims.
It was later proven that the streaming company never offered Mo’Nique more than $500,000.
Now Jawn’s fellow peers are calling him out for seemingly capitalizing from positioning himself against Mo’Nique and her goal of equal pay in Hollywood. A writer who uses the twitter handle @SonofBaldwin posted the following tweet regarding Jawn.
So many of you chose Jawn Murray over @moworldwide, but Jawn proudly lives inside of his misogynoir and enjoys the fact that he can profit from it and still receive your support. I hope we can heal whatever it is that makes us hate black women.

@SonofBaldwin then posed a blog post from Rhymes With Snitch. The post reveals Jawn Murray’s recent come up. Apparently, Jawn used his back and forth with Mo’Nique to position himself to sign on with The Gersh Talent Agency.
Rhymes With Snitch writes:
Last month pop culture critic Jawn Murray and Academy Award winning actress and comedian Mo’Nique went head to head on social media after Mo’Nique called for a Netflix boycott because they lowballed her with a $500k offer for a comedy special.
Turns out Jawn benefited from publicly bashing Mo’Nique…

Snitch then revealed this isn’t the first time Jawn became an adversary of a black woman. Allegedly, Jawn defended Tyler Perry from criticisms over his “For Colored Girls” movie. He called critics “militant-nappy-headed #AngryBlackWomen.”
Back in 2010 Jawn Murray came under fire after referring to Black women who were upset that Tyler Perry had been chosen to direct the movie based on Ntozake Shange’s book “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf’, as ‘militant, nappy-headed, angry Black women’ and suggested they get a life and a perm.
I mean to be honest Jawn isn’t the only one. So is Charlamagne, Yee and Envy. It’s no coincidence that they got invites to the premiere of Oprah’s movie right after. This is why black people have come up with their own opinions. Even our so called black journalists can be bought out. And a lot of them hate black women. Especially Jawn and Charlamagne.
It’s a dirty game. But this Jawn person seems really problematic.
If people pay attention, they can learn a lot by watching who is going against MoNique and who is siding with her. Those that have nothing to lose and don’t need any connections are defending her (Chance, India, Jada, etc.) But those who need to advance themselves are dragging her because it pays off right now. Pay equality is an issue, especially for black women in Hollywood. Who Monique is married to or what happened between her and Oprah has nothing to do with any of this. Especially when Tiffany Haddish is going down that same road. She’s not going to get paid either as Netflix has already shown her.
Tiffany bothers me. You ever see a black celebrity that you just get the feeling racists are laughing at and not with? Or that black celebrity that makes racists comfortable and feel better about themselves? That’s Tiffany. She reminds me a lot of Leslie Jones from SNL. They are non threatening black women who don’t mind being c–nish for popularity and opportunities. But when it’s all said and done, they end up really resentful when their star finally does dim because they sacrificed so much for so little.
On point.
Of course he is. They all are.
Some gay black men are just as racist as a klan member.
This is true. Self hate is real.
Those old tweets were just plain out hateful. We need to figure out why some black people actually get racist themselves when someone is critical of Tyler Perry and Oprah. Some of the comments I’ve read from black people about MoNique have been horrible.
Where is the integrity as a journalist? I thought journalists don’t knowingly spread false information. He and Roland Martin could have least retracted the lie they ran with from IOB.
People were so quick to support him too. Especially black women. Crazy.
People need to wake up.
