The Quad Cancelled After Two Seasons
Variety reports “The Quad” will not return for a 3rd season. They confirmed the news earlier today. According to Nielsen ratings, it appears there was a sizeable drop-off of views this season compared to season one.
Variety writes:
“The Quad” has been canceled at BET less than a week after the show’s second season finale, a spokesperson for the network confirmed to Variety.
Anika Noni Rose starred in the drama series as Dr. Eva Fletcher, the new president of the fictional Georgia A&M University. The historically black college struggled in Season 2, with Fletcher struggling to raise money for the nearly bankrupt institution. If she failed, the school would be forced to join Georgia’s largest, public and predominantly white university in order to keep its doors open.
The series initially kicked off in February 2017 with a two-hour pilot movie. Season 2 of the series averaged a 0.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 553,000 viewers per episode in the Nielsen Live+Same Day numbers, down around 30% in both measures from the first season.
They also reported this cancellation is on top of the departure of Debra Lee as President of BET. She will remain as Chairman and CEO but other executives left the company last March.
Are they crazy? The second season was so good.

This is why I hate giving TV shows a chance. Most of them are just going to get cancelled.
BET doesn’t now what it wants to do.

I’m assuming BET is going to go the VH1 route and flood the network with reality shows because it’s cheaper and the ratings are decent.
I was really looking forward to season three. I’m about done trying to invest my time in BET shows.
Done with BET. I stuck with The Quad even though it was all over the place this season. Many issues unresolved before they moved on to something else. Terrible decision BET.
So they cancelled this and being mary jane. I’m done!
