Issa Rae Gets Dragged on Social Media For Black Women/Asian Men Excerpt in Book?

Issa Rae is arguably one of the most popular black women in Hollywood today. Her show “Insecure” became immensely popular and she’s garnered many awards and accolades.

But, some fans of the show may be questioning her ideologies after someone on Social Media unearthed an opinion on dating in her book, “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.” The New York Times best selling book released back in 2016, before “Insecure” hit the screen.

In the book, Issa pinned a chapter called, “ABG Guide: Black Women and Asian Men.” In the chapter, Issa Rae wrote about how both groups deal with negative, societal stereotypes that hinder them in the dating world. Issa proposed a solution that could benefit both groups. She proposed, “…that black women and Asian men join forces in love, marriage, and procreation.”

She writes:

Educated black women, hwhat better intellectual match for you than an Asian man? And I am not talking Filipinos; they;re like the blacks of Asians. I’m, talking Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, et Cetra. According to a 2010 census, Koreans are more inclined to marry black than any other Asian group. So black women, after college, maybe it’s a good idea to settle in Los Angeles or anywhere else where Koreatown is a hotspot. Asian men, your women are ditching you at an alarming rate; won’t you consider black women? Especially YOU, Chinese men–there is an abundance of you, and you’re not all going to get Chinese women…sow why not cross over to the black side? Have you seen how adorable Blasian babies are? Get with the program.

  1. And I’m still going to watch Insecure. The same people mad about this gave Kanye a pass for endorsing Donald Trump and blocking black women from one of his shoots.

  2. It’s mainly black men mad about this. Meanwhile, they have said virtually nothing about most of their favorite black rappers bashing black women in their music and uplifting nonblack women all the time.

  3. Child whatever. Kanye just spent the entire weeding c–ning and they said they are still buying his album. Black men can have a stadium of seats because I’m watching Insecure.

  4. Come on now Issa. This is not the kind of drama I want her caught up in. I’m still watching Insecure but this is a mess.

  5. There’s so many buthurt black men on Twitter right now. It’s nice to see them on the receiving end for a change. I know, I’m petty. LOL.

  6. I don’t take this seriously bc she’s sarcastic in nature. I think it was meant to be light hearted and funny.

  7. It’s gotten to the point where comedians can’t even be funny any longer without people getting their knickers in a twit. For crying out loud!
