Issa Rae and the entire “Insecure” cast hosted their 2nd-annual Insecure-Fest over the weekend in Los Angeles to celebrate the 3rd season premiere.
At the event, artists such as 2 Chainz performed, fans met Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji and the rest of the “Insecure” cast. They even premiered the first episode of season 3.
During Insecure-Fest, Issa Rae and show runner Prentice Penny sat for an interview with Vulture. Of course the question of Lawrence, played by Jay Ells, was asked. Issa’s answer will disappoint members of the Lawrence-Hive.
They said that Jay Ellis won’t be returning for season 3. Despite disappointment from fans, Issa’s ready to move on from Lawrence.
“No, I don’t care!” Rae tells Vulture at Insecure Fest in L.A., regarding potential fan reactions. “We want to stay as true to life as possible. They had a great conversation at the end of season two and it was just about like, hey, she’s moving on Daniel, sometimes we have those conversations,” Rae says. “You never see the exes again. And it’s okay! You gotta explore life without Lawrence.”
