Charley meets with Jacob and his mother. His mom tells Charley she’s smart and tough.

“You are what I hear you are…smart, tough…my kind of girl.” – Jacob’s mom

“I’m not your girl.” – Charley

His mom’s angry with Sam Landry and she wants to use Charley to get rid of him as the business leader. She is adamantly against Sam using the land to build the prison. She feels it ruins the family’s legacy.

When Jacob’s mom steps away, Charley unleashes into Jacob. He apologizes for everything and assures her his feelings for her are real.

Eventually, Jacob’s mom returns. She explains that she will buy enough shares of the company to be able to vote Sam out.

“I understand that anyone who is willing to betray their own flesh and blood is someone I need to be wary of. Maybe that’s how you treat family, but we don’t do that.” – Charley

Jacob’s mom hands her information about Colton Landry. She then explains that company by-laws don’t allow her directly from taking Colton’s shares. But Charley can do it.

She also tells Charley that without partnering up with her, Charley cannot beat out Sam in the courts.

Remy is a weed smoker and shows off his blunt rolling skills.

Nova and Remy are back at her place, rolling joints. She struggles to get the blunt just right. So Remy takes over and gets it perfect. This surprises Nova and oddly impresses her too.

As they light up, Nova’s surprised at Remy’s background. Remy explains that he was a bad kid in school but he turned his life around his senior year of high school. He wants to make it clear to Nova that he has so many layers she doesn’t know about. He desperately wants her to know he isn’t a goody two-shoes.

They then share a kiss and an intimate moment.

Ralph Angel tells Nova and Charley about his budding custody battle with Darla.

He tells them that she wants 70 percent custody. With him not being Blue’s biological father, he’s not sure he can beat her in court.

Charley tells Ralph the family will have his back because that’s what family does. Nova look uncomfortable, remembering that she’s secretly dating her sister’s ex boyfriend.

Ralph Angel’s legal problems push Nova to come clean to Charley.

Nova and Charley sit out by Charley’s pool after talking to Ralph Angel. Nova uses this time to bring up dating Remy.

“Remy and I…we kissed.” – Nova

Charley’s taken aback. Nova says it was innocent and unexpected.

“You lied to me for weeks or however long it’s been going on.” – Charley

“I’m trying my best to do this right. I’m sorry.” – Nova

Charley brings up how Nova said she was wrong about selling ownership of the mill.

“When I told you about the mill you let me know how wrong I was.” – Charley

“I know.” – Nova

“You were unrelenting.” – Charley

“I know.” – Nova

“It wasn’t the first time but it will be the last.” – Charley

“I didn’t ask for this.” – Nova

“You didn’t walk away, though.” – Charley

“I will. I will if you want me to.” – Nova

Charley leaves the bench in anger.

Things go really bad for Micah and his friends.

Micah’s at the plantation, keeping a lookout after he makes some use of the spray paint cans. When everyone finishes up their part of the protest, they pray over it and Michael takes a photo of it. They light candles on the porch of the slave quarters and place crosses with people shot by the police.

Things turn for the worse when Ant’s bag full of spray paint catches fire from one of the candles. This lights the entire slave quarter building on fire. They all run as the building burns down.

All of them are back at their truck as they hear sirens in the background nervous about whats about to happen next.

Ralph Angel picks up Trinh and tells her about Darla’s desire to take primary custody of Blue. She gets angry about it, but RA tells her not to get involved.

“It’s complicated.” – Ralph Angel

He tells Trinh that it’s best they do not date while he’s having this custody battle. An angry and disappointed Trinh exits Ralph’s truck.

Nova’s at home when she gets a Skype call from Deborah. Deborah tells her that the New Yorker wants to publish her chapter about her father. Now the article needs to be done in two days.

Despite this, Nova agrees.

Charley reads Remy.

Micah heads back to the scene of the protest when he sees police and a news anchor reporting about the situation. Later on, he’s at home with Charley and Prosper watching television. He hears the doorbell and gets real nervous.

However, it’s just Remy stopping by to talk to Charley. They talk out on the porch and Charley’s angry with Remy.

Remy says he never expected to be there.

“I wanted us to work. You know that. But lets be honest. The relationship wasn’t working. It’s been over for a long time. I’m trying…I don’t expect you to accept us…what’s going on between me and…” – Remy

“Say her name.” – Charley

“Nova.” – Remy

“Nova. My sister.” – Charley

She then begins to set Remy straight. She also points out how much of a judgmental hypocrite he is.

“I don’t know you. Maybe I never did. I know I don’t trust you. And I wonder, truly, I wonder how much you value honesty, walking around here with your head so high. Always judging. But I know now. You can’t trust anyone, not even your own blood.” – Charley

Charley then warns him he better never hurt Nova.

“Nova and I, we’re forever. We’re family. But you, you will always be fleeting.” – Charley

Realizing there’s nothing he can say to defend his actions, Remy walks away as Charley gives him a cold glare. She doesn’t shed any tears until Remy drives away.
