Coko, LeeLee and Taj from SWV had a segment with Buzzfeed’s Cocoa butter where they react to the current crop of R&B artists.
Throughout the entire segment, Coko clearly let it be known that she wasn’t here for most of them.
First, they talked about H.E.R. Taj liked her, saying she could sing “dookie on a stick” and she’ll still like it. LeeLee calls H.E.R. her daughter in her mind. Coko, on the other hand, not so much.
I wanna hear her do something different though.
Next, Jhené Aiko’s “Sativa” played and Coko felt it was very depressing. With Chloe x Hale, while they all felt they sound like their mentor Beyoncé, Coko didn’t get their vibe.
With Teyana Taylor, they all loved her especially since they’re all from New York. Although Coko, LeeLee and Taj all liked The Internet’s Syd, Coko clearly wasn’t here for Queen Naija.
Coko wasn’t moved by her, even when Taj brought up how Queen praised the group in the past.
“You heard her sing live?” asked Coko as her facial expressions clearly expressed major shade for Queen.
Coko also said that she feels like most of today’s R&B artists sound the same.
