While many may be fans of the new crop of R&B artists, Coko of SWV doesn’t seem to be one of them.

In fact, during a recent segment for BuzzFeed’s Cocoa Butter, Coko let her feelings be clearly known.

During the segment, Coko let her shade fly all over the place.

Now I love SWV, but I remember growing up when they were young and newer on the scene, a lot of people didn’t think they could sing. Matter of fact, some of our mothers and aunties didn’t feel like Coko was a good singer. I mean they had some tough competition back then. Now I don’t agree but I say that because sometimes it’s easy to forget what it’s like to be an underdog. Young people need time to develop their talents and prove themselves. Eventually people gave SWV a chance and now we look at them as legends. Let these young ladies do their thing.

All of this. I remember people questioning their name Sisters With Voices. People felt like they couldn’t hold a candle to the women before them.

I agree with Coko. Most of these girls are lazy. They don’t sound good live and all their music sounds the same. Now I do think HER, Teyana and the two sisters Chloe/Halle are good. I like Kehlani as well.

I was wondering why she was trending. It’s not like she dragged anybody. She’s just not impressed by most of them.

The shade wasn’t that bad. I’m sure it’s Queen Naija’s fans doing the absolute most as usual.

She’s messy. All those faces she was making and stressing that she doesn’t think these women have potential to improve was unnecessary. But I remember people didn’t think she could sing back in the day. And I’m sure that was hurtful but here she is being all stank in this interview.

She’s entitled to her opinion but this was rude.

R&B music is not what it use to be. It lacks the authenticity and the quality which is why my Spotify is full of 80’s, 90’s, & 00’s music. She told no lies.
