The Jimenez crew finds Dre.
Dre is preparing to head to court to testify against Alicia Jimenez. He’s at the secret house location with Donovan and other agents. They are strapped and ready to get Dre and his daughter moving. His daughter is crying and Donovan comes over to console her. He once again questions Dre’s choice to leave the child’s mother behind. Donovan isn’t sure Dre can raise the child by himself. Regardless, he warns Dre to stick to the plan because he and his daughter may not survive if he goes back to the drug game.
Before they can head out, shooters show up to the house. All the agents are killed except Donovan. But he does suffer a gunshot wound. After he takes out the last shooter, he tells Dre to hold tight until backup arrives. But Dre picks up the last shooter’s gun and points it at Donovan while holding his daughter. Donovan tells Dre not to kill him because he too has a daughter at home. And he took a bullet for Dre. But Dre tells Donovan he didn’t ask him to do that. And although Donovan has tried hard to be a good guy, good guys finish last. He then kills Donovan in front of his daughter, getting Donovan’s blood on her face before leaving the house.
Proctor’s ex-wife is visiting Saxe at his office. She gives him the bug that was placed on her daughter’s backpack. Although Saxe assures her they won’t get in trouble, she’s not so convinced since the wire is an illegal one. Regardless, Saxe takes the wire and hooks it up to listen to what’s been recorded thus far.
Ramona arrives, Dre is caught.
Dre is in good spirits. He arrives at the train station with his daughter. After they buy tickets, it doesn’t take long before they are stopped by the police. Dre is placed in handcuffs as they pick up his daughter. His attempt to run and get out of testifying against Alicia has been foiled for now.
Back at the office, Saxe is informed by Warner that Donovan is dead and Dre was picked up at the train station. He questions how all of this happened. But Saxe tells him that he didn’t know about Dre testifying against Alicia until he ran into Tampio at Angela’s funeral. Warner says Dre was Angela’s witness and her name is all over this. He warns Saxe that there will be problems if Alicia isn’t taken down. Minutes later, Saxe talks to Dre. He tells him that he must continue with the plan to testify against Alicia. But Dre no longer wants to. He realizes he’s in danger and he doesn’t believe the feds will be able to keep him alive. Saxe tells Dre he has no other option but to do what he agreed to and the trial has been pushed back to three days away.
After Councilman Tate assaults his staffer, he sleeps with his wife. Not too long after, the DNC sends a woman named Ramona in to make some changes to the staff. She announces that most of them have been fired. This includes the staffer and his wife. Tate pulls Ramona to the side to find out why this is happening. She says Tate was the one who asked the DNC for help. But he says all he really needs is money. Not half of his staff to be fired. But Ramona assures him that the money will come after they make the necessary changes to his staff needed for him to win. But she first needs to know more about “James St. Patrick.”
Tommy brings Keisha with him to see his crew and where they conduct business. When the crew sees her, 2 Bit gets concerned. He feels like things always go south when women become involved. Tommy shows Keisha the drugs and explains the business to her. Later, he is shown all the money made by Grimace. While it’s a lot, Tommy worries about cleaning it all so he can give Jason his cut.
Jason wants Alicia.
Saxe talks to Alicia and her lawyer. She wants all the charges to be dropped so she can return to Mexico and be prosecuted there. But Saxe knows that all that means is Alicia will get a plane ride back home and a slap on the wrist. He declines the deal and Alicia makes it clear that Dre will continue to be a target until she gets what she wants. Saxe is willing to take his chances.
Ghost confronts Tate about the QCP being held up. The construction was set to begin but nothing is happening. Tate says this is the case because he is low on funds. And he can’t do anything about that at the moment. When Ghost sees Ramona, Tate tells Ghost that Ramona is a DC consultant sent by the DNC to make sure he wins the governor’s race. She was married to a senator who got caught cheating on her with call girls. Tate has to put his campaign first before QCP can happen, so he needs Ghost to lay low and stay out the way.
Tommy needs to clean his money. He doesn’t know how so he meets up with Tasha. As they smoke a blunt in his new car, Tasha says she can’t help him. She’s low on funds and needs to find a job. Tommy says he can talk to Keisha about letting Tasha use her salon. But Tasha reminds him that Keisha won’t talk to her. Tommy gets a text from Jason saying he wants to meet immediately.
Business is going great for Tariq and his partners. Effie comes in his room and calls him out for being too flashy. Tariq has been wearing a new watch. But he feels like they should be able to enjoy all the money they are making. Since Effie and his roommate are out of pills, Tariq will go get a re-up. When Effie asks Tariq who his connect is, he refuses to answer. She calls him a pretty boy before leaving, making Tariq blush.
Jason talks with Ghost and Tommy separately about Alicia. He wants her handed over to him because he needs to get control of the ports. If she heads to trial and loses, it could mean a war over who will be the next to control the Jimenez Cartel. And that would be bad for business. So he wants Ghost and Tommy to figure out how to get her while she’s being transported.
Ghost needs a favor from Proctor.
Tasha goes by her mother’s place to pick up Yaz. She’s taken aback when she sees other kids there. Her mother says other women needed a sitter, so she obliged. As she watches one woman pay her mother, she gets an idea. This could become a way for her to make some money.
Tariq is at Tasha’s place eating Chines food with Tasha and Yaz. After he finds out money has been short and he doesn’t have his own room there, he offers to give her money. She asks where the money came from and he tells her Kanan left it for him. She tells him she doesn’t want anything from Kanan. Tariq tries to tell her Kanan isn’t that bad and then there’s a knock on the door. It’s Ghost. He tells Tasha he can’t watch Yaz over the weekend. He questions why he wasn’t told Tariq would be there and isn’t impressed with Tasha’s new place. Irritated about the complaints about the apartment from Ghost and Tariq, Tasha tells Tariq to stay with Ghost before walking off.
The next morning, Tariq and Ghost talk as Tariq eats his breakfast at Ghost’s penthouse. Ghost tells Tariq that Tommy is still alive and Tariq pretends like he didn’t know. But Ghost knows he’s lying and tells Tariq he needs to take his side because he’s his father. And if he dies, he leaves everything to Tariq. Tariq agrees and they hug while Tariq smirks behind his father’s back. After Ghost leaves, Tariq goes and picks up another stash of pills he had hidden. A photo of Raina grabs his attention.
Ghost gets a visit from Proctor. He tells Proctor he needs to know where Alicia is or he’s a dead man. Proctor warns Ghost not do this, but Ghost says he has no choice. And if Proctor doesn’t get the info, he will have Ghost’s blood on his hands. He warns Proctor not to come back ever if he can’t get this for him.
Tariq bonds with Effie.
Tasha tells her mom her idea. She thinks they should start a daycare and split the profits. Although her mother thinks this is a good idea, she’d prefer Tasha to work on her marriage so they don’t have to worry about money anymore. This annoys Tasha.
Tommy pops up to Proctor’s place. His daughter is told to go upstairs and takes her book bag with her. Tommy tells Proctor he needs to find out where Alicia is. He plans to break her out of prison. And he will need Proctor’s inside man Charlie to do this.
Ghost meets Ramona at Truth. Both talk about their pasts including Ghost’s former legal problems and humble beginnings. And Ramona opens up about her ex husband’s scandal. As they hit it off, Ghost fixes Ramona a whiskey.
Tariq opens up to Effie. He kicks out his roommate and two girls so he can play a game of chess with Effie in peace. She tells Tariq that her mother has been dirking a lot since her brother was killed in a robbery gone bad. She asks him about Raina’s death and he says he feels alone. Half of him is dead. But Effie says he’s not alone and she’s here for him. Tariq also admits he’s out of pills and his connect (Kanan) is also dead. He has no idea what to do about this.
Tommy succeeds.
Tommy goes over his plan with his crew. They talk over a map about the best way to get Alicia. It’s decided that the best place to snatch her is while she’s in the restroom. But they will need a woman to help with this. Tommy decides Keisha is the best person for this job.
Ghost stops by Tate’s meeting with his new staff and Ramona. Ramona surprises Tate and tells him that Ghost was asked to join them. She wants Ghost and Tasha to campaign for Tate locally. But Ghost tells Ramona he has to do it alone because he and Tasha are divorcing. Ramona looks low-key happy about this news.
Later, Tate and Ramona meet with Tasha. They want her to pretend to be good with Ghost so they can campaign for Tate locally. Tasha agrees to this if they can help her start her daycare business. She needs some money to pay for the required licenses and certifications. And she needs building matters handled smoothly. Ramona agrees to this.
It’s Alicia’s day in court. One of the agents accidentally brings Dre into the courtroom too soon and Alicia waves at him. Dre is then taken out and one of the guards puts a poisoned cup of water in front of Alicia to drink. She does and starts coughing violently. The guard is then wired $10,000. Alicia is taken out of the courtroom to the bathroom. Alicia vomits in a toilet and Keisha listens in a nearby “out of order stall,” and texts Tommy that Alicia is there before walking out of the bathroom and being spotted by Ghost. Seconds later, 2-Bit and Spanky arrive to the bathroom and place Alicia on a stretcher. They put her in an ambulance as Ghost looks on and spots Tommy helping them. Tommy and Ghost make eye contact before the ambulance pulls off.
Jason kills Alicia.
When Alicia gains consciousness, she is joined by Jason and his men. Jason asks for Alicia to tell him who her connects are. Alicia asks for a cigarette and begins smoking. She refuses to answer and tells Jason that whoever betrayed her will betray him too. Jason then shoots and kills her.
Tommy walks in asking Jason why he went through the trouble of getting Alicia if Jason was just going to kill her. Jason says his plan was to always be the one who killed her. He then confirms that he asked Tommy and Ghost to do the job to see who was going to be successful. Jason is pleasantly surprised that it was Tommy who came out on top.
Ghost confronts Proctor for helping Tommy. Proctor says he had no choice because Tommy is dangerous. Ghost gets a text from Jason demanding his money. Now that Ghost wasn’t the one to deliver Alicia, Jason wants his biweekly $100,000 ASAP. Frustrated, Ghost tells Proctor he needs money. Proctor tells Ghost to get in contact with Stern.
Tommy turns down Ghost.
So Ghost meets Stern at Truth. Stern says he was able to get a QCP loan at 3%. Ghost says his was 15%. Stern taunts Ghost about them working together again. And he has more stake in Raina’s legacy than Ghost does.
Keisha is proud of what she was able to do for Tommy. And Tommy tells her they did it together as a team. When Tommy says he needs Tasha’s help to clean his money in her salon, Keisha says she can clean his money on her own. She now knows how to do it. In reference to Tasha, Tommy says, “F*ck that b*tch.” They share a kiss.
Saxe has another meeting with Dre. He says he’s free to go now that Alicia is dead. But Saxe won’t give him his daughter unless he helps him take down Ghost. Dre gets upsets and realizes he has no other option. On top of that, he’s now in danger with no more fed protection.
Ghost calls up Tommy to talk about Jason. Both men are fully aware that Jason is playing them both and lining up his pocket in the process. So Ghost suggests they team up and take out Jason. Tommy isn’t going for this. He believes Ghost is only calling him because he has no one else. So he refuses and tells Ghost that he’s “canceling Christmas” for him the next time he sees him before hanging up.
