Harmony & Hope has big plans.
At Calvary, Grace is with Judee from Harmony & Hope to talk about Grace’s conversation with Fernando. Judee lets Grace know that they want to build a state of the art community center and restaurants on the land purchased from Kerissa and Jacob. Grace immediately wonders if even more is occurring. She reports back to Mae and James. James doesn’t believe this happened and Mae slaps Jacob for selling the land.
James suspects only Bob knows what is really the plan for the land. Then Mae’s made sick when Jacob tells her Charity’s in love with Phil. Mae tells Grace to tell the board before Judee does. When Grace says this isn’t a good Idea, Mae then comes up with the idea to do it herself with an engagement party. Meanwhile, Kerissa asks Jacob to learn about who would get the house if James and Mae passed away. He’s unsure. Jacob then questions why she was at Fernando’s office.
Kerissa goes off on him for questioning this, bringing up his past transgressions.
Sophia’s still home and stops by Zora’s to hang with her and Nicki. However, Sophia can’t stop thinking about her brother AJ.
James questions Charity dating Phil.
Phil questions his place in Harmony & Hope with Judee and she reminds him Bob has every intention to honor his word to Phill. Meanwhile, James questions Charity about dating Phil and keeping a secret. Charity stands her ground about her relationship. She also tells James that Phil is Bob’s ghostwriter and James hurts her by calling Phil dumb. Luckily for Charity, James invites Phil to their party.
Karine’s impressed by Mae’s planning when Connie stops by her desk telling Karine to add her to Mae’s guest list. Kerissa’s also snooping around and asks James about their marriage license. In the process, she sees the safe they have and accepts an offer about keeping important papers in the safe. She memorizes the passcode. Moments later, Mae comes in and suspects Kerissa’s up to no good.
Charity tells Phil about his invite to James and Mae’s engagement party and Phil reluctantly accepts. Judee then goes to see Grace about her parents’ engagement party. She suspects they will speak badly about the plans and asks to attend in an effort to stop their plan. Grace obliges.
Jacob goes to see Dante at his place of business to persuade him to invest in Kerissa’s school. Dante scoffs at this and he’s disappointed Jacob would ask him for money.
During the deacon board meeting, Judee gets her chance to speak about the land. Despite not asking for money, they are asking to adjust their board so that Harmony & Hope would have 50% of the board’s seats. Despite saying they won’t go for this, Connie wants to make it happen. Judee then seeming makes a vague threat to Grace.
Mae uses her party to dissuade the board from going with H&H’s plan.
It’s the night of the Greenleaf’s engagement party and James gets along with Phil. Charity goes off on Grace and Mae’s working the deacon board. Meanwhile, Sophia’s frustrated when she gets confused about Zora’s friend Nicki. James won’t give Phil his blessing to date Charity because he didn’t offer to quit his job at Harmony & Hope. Meanwhile, Phil checks in with Judee who reminds Phil of their past affair.
Eventually, James and Mae give a speech and Kerissa uses the moment to head to the family safe. However, she discovers Mae got to the safe first, leaving it empty. Mae’s working the room, leaving the board with a message about going against Harmony & Hope’s proposal.
After the party, Dante stops by Zora’s to bring over the last of Nikki’s belongings. He runs into Sophia and they make small talk. He offers to take her on a ride and she accepts the offer. Meanwhile, Judee leaves angrily after she senses Phil may have serious feelings for Charity. Connie confronts Mae about her plans and accuses Mae of lying about being abused by her father. Mae responds by kicking her out.
James and Charity talk about Phil. He tells Charity to put things on hold until Grace is made pastor permanently. Charity is angered by this request. The next morning, Judee confronts Grace about the party and she reveals Grace will run the whole church if H&H gets those board seats. But those plans may be dashed as Charity tells Phil to send out the recording of Grace revealing she lied to the police about AJ’s crime. Charity is done making sacrifices for Grace.
