The family is heading to Mexico.
The episode starts off with the gang enjoying their vacation in Mexico. But the good times halt after they see that TI is a hot topic in the media. Apparently, TI made comments about Deyjah during an interview that didn’t sit well with a lot of people.
Producers then flashback to a week earlier.
The kids are hanging out with Tiny. They are all preparing to go on a vacation to Mexico. TI is excited to catch up with the kids there.
Major and Messiah say they have no plans on going due to schoolwork.
However, Toya, Reginae, Tommi, LeToya, TI’s friends, and two nieces are all going with the rest of the kids.
TI’s parenting is discussed.
When they get to Mexico, everyone settles in with drinks and conversations. TI’s parenting becomes a topic, and TI says that he doesn’t think their kids should get too much space because they can make decisions that can affect their lives negatively. And when it comes to King, TI tells Tiny that she raised King to be the best baby daddy he can be someday. In his opinion, King is very experienced with the ladies already. Regardless, TI is seen as the strict parent while Tiny is more relaxed.
A new chapter warrants a photoshoot.
Monica is going to do a photo shoot in Mexico. To celebrate her new chapter in life, she’s going to shed her clothes for the shoot. Her friend and photographer Cyndi is taking the pictures.
Her mother calls before she can get started. She comes clean and of course, her mother isn’t thrilled about the shoot. But Monica goes through with it anyway, nerves and all.
The adults separate from the kids and do some salsa dancing. TI isn’t so trusting and tells Tiny he wonders what they are up to. He knows they can get in trouble if they have too much freedom. But Tiny thinks they will be fine to do their own thing for one night.
Meanwhile, the kids head out and are ready to turn up more than the grown-ups. But all the ladies want to do is talk about school and King hates the fact that he’s the only young man there.
LeToya and Tommi spend some time at the beach. They are still doing great and feeling like the trip to Mexico is perfect timing.
TI becomes a hot topic.
While everyone is having a good time on the yacht, phones start buzzing. TI is in the headlines for saying he checks Deyjah’s hymen by taking her to the gynecologist. This is his way to confirm she’s still a virgin.
Deyjah is very uncomfortable. And she’s hurt, angry, and embarrassed that Ti would say what he did. To cool off, she walks to the beach with her cousins.
Deyjah reacts.
While Deyjah is at the beach with her cousins, they talk about it. And Deyjah likes to just let issues go away rather than confront them. She says TI has been going to the gynecologist with her since she was about 14. They all know TI wouldn’t do any of her brothers like this. And they are actually encouraged to have sex while the girls are not.
Deyjah even notices how TI jokes about King becoming a baby daddy one day. He would never do that with her. But Deyjah doesn’t think she can get TI to understand how she feels. She wants to be a better parent when it comes to things like this.
She breaks down in tears.
TI explains himself.
TI’s mom Latrice confronts TI about this. He had no idea his comments went viral.
TI says he told a joke that was laced in truth. He made a lot of embellishments. And he was speaking past tense not present day.
TI also denies writing a note to Deyjah reminding her of the appointment on her 16th birthday and putting it on her door.
When Latrice asks why he would even take Deyjah to the gynecologist, he tells his mother that Deyjah snuck out the house in the past to be with a young man.
Latrice is extremely upset. While TI says this was just a joke he made during an interview on a podcast, he’s seeing that a lot of people are really furious. So he will have to respond in about 72 hours.
Deyjah isn’t ready to talk.
The next morning, TI and the family get together for breakfast. In a green screen interview, Tiny says that TI was just being an open book. And he said something at a time when everyone is judgmental. So some things should just not be said. But there’s a difference in raising sons and daughters. And men just want to protect their daughters because they know what young men do.
Deyjah doesn’t have much to say and TI doesn’t bring up his controversial comments. In a green screen interview, Deyjah says she wasn’t ready to talk about it at that point. But TI’s comments have changed their relationship. She then breaks down in tears.
