AJ wants to stay with Noah.
The episode begins with Grace and Noah in AJ’s hospital room. His doctor tells them AJ may be better in a therapy facility designed for people living with HIV. Grace scoffs at this and feels AJ’s best living with her. AJ returns and he tells Grace, Noah, and the doctor that he wants to go home with Noah. This makes Grace emotional.
James and Mae are having breakfast with Jacob. James is going off about Jacob. Jacob is telling James and Mae he only wanted to protect them. Mae goes off on Jacob too as Kerissa is possibly using this to harm the three of them. When Jacob leaves them, Mae brings up going to Calvary’s final Sunday service before it’s torn down. James doesn’t want to go so Mae decides to host a Bible study. She then leaves to hatch a plan to stop Kerissa.
Judee shuts down Charity’s idea.
Meanwhile, Charity’s at Calvary with Judee and Phil. Charity suggests she reads the history of the Church and of course, Judee disagrees. Grace walks in and overhears Charity’s conversation with Phil and Judee, witnessing how Phil reluctantly goes with Judee’s idea. Grace is there to tell Charity she may have a plan to stop H&H from demolishing the church and it may involve Phil. Apparently, Phil’s mom, who’s deceased, is on certain properties still that Bob is involved with and Grace needs to contact Phil’s dad Marcus. However, Charity scoffs at this until Grace suggests this can be a way to get Judee away.
Charity then tells Grace that Marcus changed his name to Yusef Shabazz.
James has a plan.
Back at home, Mae storms into Kerissa’s suite to kick her out and demands to know why this is happening. Kerissa opens up to tell her that she had an affair. In fact, Kerissa doesn’t want an affair. She tells Mae that if she can convince Jacob to forgive her and call off the divorce, she’ll back away from using the will. Meanwhile, Aaron meets with Jacob and James, telling him that the second will is valid. However, if this becomes public, this can look badly upon the family.
Later on, Grace calls Phil’s father to get key information about Bob Whitmore. However, Yusef hangs up before she could get any information.
When Mae pulls Jacob aside, she tells him to forgive Kerissa. She brings up all his past transgressions, which include Mae’s past housekeeper who was a favorite of hers. Jacob reluctantly agrees.
At Calvary, Charity runs into Connie about her plan to present the history of Calvary during the service and Connie agrees with Judee and Phil, saying no.
James speaks with Basie’s sister Tara.
Eventually, James arrives at the New Revelations Mission to speak with Basie’s sister. James is looking to apologize and set the record straight. James tells her Mac set up the fire and have her father there. He’s also impressed with her mission. James asks her if there’s anything she could do to get past it.
When Noah brings AJ over to the Greenleaf compound, he doesn’t want to speak to Grace. AJ hears Grace speaking to Noah, demanding him to get AJ on his HIV medication and AJ puts a stop to it.
Meanwhile, Judee storms into Charity’s office to fire her. Judee heard about Charity going to Connie about her idea and didn’t like it one bit. Charity doesn’t believe she has the power to do this but Judee reminds her she’s the soon to be the First Lady of the church and Bob’s daughter. Charity goes to Phil about this and he stands behind Judee. As a result, Charity quits and tells him he’s going to be hearing from her lawyer.
James gives Grace advice.
Back on the property, Grace runs into James as he’s coming back in. She’s sad AJ’s staying with Noah and James consoles her. He reminds her that she also left home but eventually returned.
Meanwhile, Jacob and Kerissa talk after talking to Mae. Kerissa tells Jacob to apologize and forgive her for what she did. However, Jacob just stands there silent because he just can’t do that. Kerissa realizes their marriage is over but she won’t use the will against them because of Mae.
Zora and Sophia hang with AJ before he leaves and they ask if he would just stay. Grace walks in before he could answer so they could talk. Once Sophia and Zora leave, Grace doesn’t press him about leaving, just the doctor she wants him to see. She also tells him that he can also come back at any time. Before he walks out, he kisses Grace on her head. This brings Grace to tears.
Jude tells Phil it was best Charity quit and Phil tells Charity that something could be in the works to stop H&H from demolishing Calvary. During their conversation, Judee reveals she’s not legally divorced. Phil stops Judy from going down on him and she storms off.
James’ plan possibly backfires.
Meanwhile, Mae’s suspicion is that Bishop’s talk with Tara was the end of everything. However, Bishop is happy about it. Next, Jacob tells Mae he couldn’t live with Kerissa anymore.
Charity also walks in and tells everyone she quits which made Mae happy. The rest of the family joins them for dinner and James tells them they’re having church at home tomorrow, with Mae leading.
But during the speech, James gets a call from Tara. After the call, he tells the family Tara wants to talk again about the house.
