Yandy Smith has received mixed reactions for her activism.
“Love And Hip Hop New York” star Yandy Smith has been busy being active in the Black Lives Matter Movement. In fact, she’s been arrested while protesting for justice for Breonna Taylor. It’s a situation that is near and dear to her heart. And she’s been very vocal about this on social media. While some people are in support of Yandy’s activism, others have been very critical. Similar to the criticism Porsha Williams has endured, Yandy has also been accused of protesting for attention and a storyline.
On the second part of “Love And Hip Hop Unlocked,” host Kendall Kyndall asked Yandy what she thinks about people accusing her of protesting for clout.
She said, “It’s okay, it’s fine. My goal is definitely to amplify the voices of marginalized communities. And where am I supposed to amplify the voices where I have 6.5 million people following me on Instagram?”
Yandy continued, “Long as you see me on the frontlines screaming Breonna Taylor, long as you see me on the frontlines screaming Sandra Bland, I’m glad I’m able to amplify these voices of these communities that have been marginalized.”
