Eboni K. Williams doesn’t shy away from discussions on race and politics.
Eboni K. Williams is having a controversial first season on “Real Housewives of New York.” She is the first black woman to ever be a main cast member. And Eboni had tension with Luann De Lesseps. They got into a disagreement after Eboni said that she’s the most educated woman in the group. And Luann accused Eboni of being “angry.”
Well, Eboni pointed out that prior to their disagreement, Leah McSweeney called the other women “hoes” before storming off. Yet, Luann and no one else labeled Leah as angry. So for Eboni, she thought the moment was rooted in racial microaggressions.
Luann wasn’t feeling this and asked Eboni to leave her house.
Eboni also made Romana Singer uncomfortable when she tried to discuss politics and the results of the Presidential Election. Romana said she didn’t want to talk about it. But Eboni continued to press her until Romana had a meltdown.
Interestingly enough, another black woman, Bershan Shaw, joined the show as a friend. And she’s friends with Romana. She and the others attended Eboni’s dinner event at a black-owned restaurant in Harlem where she taught them about the Harlem Renaissance. And she said that she believes everyone is the same regardless of race, and Eboni felt her message was being undermined.
A fan expressed their disappointment and Eboni K. Williams stood firm.
Well, a RHONY fan recently had something to say about Eboni on Instagram. They wanted it to be known that they do root for her but she comes off condescending and too preachy. They also feel she spends too much time trying to educate the other women. And they want to see a more “chill” side to her.
In response to this, Eboni wrote, “I can appreciate your commentary.” She continued, “I can assure you that I have no need or desire to prove how smart I am…God took care of that long ago. I’m just a nerd. And I’m in love with learning and Black Excellence.” She concluded with, “And I don’t care that much if others don’t enjoy that.”
