The “your mother” clap back is up for discussion.

Candiace Dillard‘s altercation with Monique Samuels is a traumatic memory for the “Real Housewives of Potomac” star. While some of the women on the show supported her, some fans called her out on social media. And it came out that Candiace was also upset because Andy Cohen didn’t reach out to her after everything unfolded.

Interestingly enough, Candiace’s blowup with Mia Thornton has led to people bringing up what happened with Monique last season.

After Mia called the “Drive Back” music video low budget, Candiace said Mia’s mother is low budget. Considering Mia’s mother is a recovering drug addict, some of the other cast members felt Candiace went too far.

At the reunion, a fan of the show asked if Candiace knew about Mia’s mother’s past when she made the quip. She said, “I did not know…I did not.” Candiace continues, “If I knew that she had the trauma that she has with her mother, I would not have said that.” She went on to say she would have just talked about something else instead.

Andy Cohen has some questions.

Candiace went on to say she was just doing what black people do. “What I will say is that was in the black community is referred to as joning. I was going light on you. And what happened was you were ungrateful.”

Andy Cohen seems to think this is a ridiculous thing to say. “So if you say her mom is low budget, she’s supposed to thank you?” And Candiace questions what she’s supposed to do when someone insults her.

Gizelle Bryant interjected and said that Candiace’s response to Mia wasn’t justifiable. But Candiace doesn’t back down. “If I want to respond verbally, hello, welcome to the stage! That’s what we do.” Andy then has another question, “Can I ask you a question? How’s that working for you? Honestly.” He continues, “How is the way that you respond to people working for you? You almost were physically attacked last year.”

Candiace is taken aback by Andy’s comments. “So that’s my fault that I was physically attacked?” And Andy says, “Well…you’re the common denominator.”

Regardless, Candiace feels singled out. “False. Everyone up here has a mouth, has said nasty, disrespectful, bottom-of-the-gutter things to one another. But because I am better at it, I am somehow crucified.”

Karen Huger steps in to lighten the conversation. “Oh, I don’t think nobody better than me and Gizelle.”
