Colorism accusations brought a lot of controversy to “Basketball Wives.”
“Basketball Wives” fans can all probably agree that the latest season was another controversial one. OG accused the cast of having a colorism issue, and she believed she was treated unfairly because she is a dark-skinned woman. In fact, she wasn’t allowed to film the reunion with the rest of the cast the season prior. It was said that the issue was OG scared them. They feared things could turn violent while filming scenes with her. However, OG pointed out that she had never been in any physical altercations on the show. And her main foe at the time, Evelyn Lozada, had been in numerous altercations. However, the other women weren’t afraid to continue filming scenes with Evelyn.
OG and Evelyn’s feud would result in a court battle. After things got shady on social media, Evelyn made use of a laughing monkey emoji on her Instagram Story. And OG accused Evelyn of being racist because she believes the monkey was used to reference her. So Evelyn sued OG for defamation. OG then countersued for emotional distress.
Over time, some of the other women said it was difficult to film with OG. They worried about her accusing them of colorism. So OG became somewhat of an outcast on the show during the recent season. And she won’t be on the upcoming season. Neither will Evelyn.
Interestingly enough, it’s possible Malaysia Pargo may be the outsider during season 10. And some are wondering if this was the plan of the producers considering the casting choices made.
