Quani and Puma are just trying to figure things out.
Puma and Teddy catch up after Puma’s emotional revelation about his son. He says he didn’t want any pity. Puma has been really stressed out after finding out their son is on the spectrum. With his 40th birthday drawing near, Puma wants to do something major because he has a new passion for life. And although some think 40 is old, he still feels young with so much more to experience.
Quani is also stressed out and unhappy with herself. She tells Puma that they have been together for 12 years. And she feels like the majority of their time together has been about Puma. She’s put her own life on hold to support him and follow him as he pursues his dreams. Although Puma is a great provider, Quani wants to have her own career. She wants her own 401(k). It’s important for her to do something to make her a role model to their children.
Although Puma doesn’t understand this and he feels he’s done everything he can for his family, he’ll support Quani during this next chapter.
Puma’s son has a major moment.
Ceaser heads to his Houston shop to tattoo Bun B’s wife and to check in on Van. He’s disappointed to find out that Van is not at the shop. And he wishes all of his people would step up a lot more for the Black ink brand.
Puma and Quani take their son to experience horseback riding for the first time ever. They are shocked to see him be focused while riding the horse and listening as the instructors teach him how to ride. After seeing this, Puma is feeling hopeful about his son’s future. And he’s willing to do whatever is necessary to help him.
Van disappoints Ceaser.
Ceaser is able to finally meet with Van at the Houston shop. The shop started off strong, But the new location began with 10 artists and now only 4 are left. Van apologizes for letting Ceaser down. He admits that he was dealing with personal issues involving his daughter. But he will show Ceaser that he’s capable of getting the shop back to a good place.
Quani invites the crew out to partake in indoor rock climbing to celebrate Puma’s 40th birthday. Puma is ready to show everyone he still has it when it comes to his physical abilities. And he’s realized that life isn’t about getting older and setting goals. It’s about living life on one’s own terms and enjoying it one day at a time.
