Tariq gives Effie permission to get back to selling on campus.
Noma’s henchman shows off pictures of everyone’s loved ones to Tariq, Brayden, Cane, and Effie. Diana will be the first one killed if they don’t hasten up selling Noma’s drugs. Tariq and the others take the warning seriously.
Effie has an honest moment with Tariq about her plans to sell drugs at Stansfield. He understands it’s been hard to support herself as a college student. And he doesn’t want to stand in the way of her making her own money. So he supports her plan.
Monet is feeling the pressure.
Whitman harasses Monet at the bar. He wants her to confess to killing Carrie. But Monet won’t budge. She later has Maclean accompany her on a meeting with Whitman. Whitman once again accuses Monet of killing Carrie. She snaps and tells him that GTG killed Zeke.
With Noma’s crew running out of patience, Cane decides the family needs to take out the biggest connect in the city. That way they can push more of Noma’s product in more places. They have to become the new connect. So Cane tells Brayden to do the deed because he’s white and they need the alibi. The connect is Russian and Cane doesn’t want anything to link back to the Tejada family.
Tariq meets Monet at Maclean’s office. She tells him Whitman thinks she killed Carrie. Tariq realizes that he’s probably in hot water too. And he’ll have to be careful about the moves he makes moving forward. Saxe looks on from a distance and takes a photo with his phone.
Brayden struggles.
Saxe visits Maclean’s brother Theo in prison. He realizes Theo took the plea deal even though he knew he didn’t do the crime. And his height doesn’t even match the suspect. Saxe concludes Theo took the charge to keep Maclean out of prison. He confirms such in a later conversation with Maclean. Somehow Maclean manages to convince Saxe to help him free Theo.
Brayden attempts to kill the Russian/connect. However, he freezes in action. Luckily, Tariq and Effie are there. So Tariq finishes the job. Unfortunately, the now-deceased connect’s crew of Russians sees them in action. They are lucky to get away and hide in a nearby restaurant. While this may have been a dangerous way to complete the task, Tariq’s plan to distribute the drugs via a coffee business that delivers to customers might just work.
Cane puts two and two together.
Cane’s plan is a success as they become the new connect. However, he’s told that the Russian’s killer was a black man. It becomes clear to Cane that it wasn’t Brayden who took him out.
Brayden meets with Cane later that night. Cane points a gun at his head. He tells Brayden that he wants to know who killed the Russian. Brayden doesn’t give up a name. And Cane tells Brayden he still owes him a body.
