It’s a brand new chapter for Kate.
Tommy is grieving and crying over Liliana’s death. He still cannot believe she’s gone and it’s still fresh on his mind since it only occurred two days ago. He drinks to get through the pain. As the tears fall, he hears her voice encouraging him to make the people who did this pay. Tommy promises to make the Flynn family feel it.
He locates one of the Flynn’s henchmen and demands to know where the Flynns are. Once he’s told their next location and what time they will be there, Tommy stabs the guy in the throat.
Tommy later makes it to Kate’s place to catch up with JP and D-Mac. He’s impressed by how well Kate is bonding with D-Mac. JP also thinks she’s doing a great job at being a grandmother. When Tommy notices Kate may be going through withdrawal, he pulls her aside to offer her some coke. She tells him she doesn’t want it. Kate wants to stay clean likely for her new life as a grandmother with two sons.
Walter is on thin ice.
Diamond and Jenard have officially told their crews that they are now enemies. So if either steps foot on the other’s territory, they will be taken out on sight. CBI has been completely torn apart. Not everyone is eager to work with Tommy though. Chewy, one of my Diamond’s associates, questions why Diamond is working for a white man. Regardless, Diamond lets him know Tommy is his partner and they are running things together.
Tommy is warned by Diamond to not pursue Liliana’s killer yet because he feels it’s too soon and risky. But Tommy isn’t trying to wait to make his move. Liliana was his friend and he feels he owes her street justice. He reminds Diamond to set up a meeting with the connect so they can finally meet. Once Tommy leaves, Diamond receives a text from Adrienne saying she is ending the relationship because she is not “cut out for this life.” He’s just fine with this.
Walter hears back from the mob heads when the men he borrowed to take on Tommy don’t make it out alive. He learns the only way this won’t lead to retaliation is if he hands over some cash. And he has until the end of the month to do this.
Diamond meets with his new parole officer Reeves. He is told the previous one was fired because they found out he was on CBI’s payroll. Reeves tells him that if he has any contact with other felons and doesn’t follow the rules, he will go back to prison.
Vic and Claudia are ready to do their own thing, together.
Tommy uses the information he is given and makes it to Walter’s next location. However, Walter ends up not being alone. So Tommy isn’t able to take him out.
Walter assures Claudia and Vic that he’s going to make sure they aren’t taken out because of his debt. They all know Tommy is a big threat. And it’s a wrap if he learns Claudia was the one who shot Liliana. Once he leaves, Claudia tells Vic they need to have their own operation. She still has dahlia. He agrees to work together as long as they split everything down the middle. And she cannot make any moves without talking to him first, a true partnership.
JP is still trying to talk Tommy into letting him help out with the drug business. But Tommy has other plans for JP. He gifts him a new bar to run with D-Mac. He doesn’t want either one of them anywhere near his business after D-Mac was shot. JP is grateful for the new business. And he is excited to turn it into a successful family business. While they are chatting inside the new place, the feds are outside of his car dusting for fingerprints
Jenard locates Chewy and his crew playing at the basketball court. He tells him he can make more money working with him. And if he leaves Diamond, he’ll give him a discount on drugs with a bigger cut. Chewy accepts amid his uneasiness about Tommy.
Miguel could be a problem for Jenard, Diamond, and Tommy.
Jenard later meets with Miguel from the Insane Princes crew. He’s the connect. When Jenard arrives at the hangout, he sees Miguel and his men torturing a man in a chair as he screams in pain. Jenard lets Miguel know he’s going to be “a little light” on the re-up. And he’ll have his money next week. So Jenard has until Friday to get Miguel his money or he’ll end up like the man currently being tortured. He later goes to Claudia to make a deal that comes along with a new partnership, but Claudia isn’t interested.
Diamond and Tommy go to Miguel’s hangout to talk business and allow Tommy to meet the connect for the first time. However, Tommy is told to stay in a backroom where he ends up talking to a woman who has her guard up. Meanwhile, Miguel tells Diamond that the Serbs are his direct competitors and there will always be beef because they run opposing drug pipelines.
Regardless, Miguel warns Diamond to not allow Tommy to become a problem. Diamond says he won’t be. But Miguel says Diamond will be taken out if Tommy causes issues.
After their conversation ends, Diamond goes to the room to get Tommy. He identifies the woman Tommy has been talking to as Maria. Turns out she’s Miguel’s sister. So Diamond tells Tommy not to even go there because doing so has gotten a lot of men killed. Tommy denies even wanting to go there. He’s more focused on expansion and taking out the Flynns.
A takeover is still the endgame for Tommy.
Tommy questions why he and Diamond can’t become the connect instead of relying on Miguel or the Serbs. Diamond says this is too dangerous and they’d have to take out a lot of people to do this. Tommy thinks this can be done but their first hurdle is dahlia. Claudia’s product is too strong of competition. So Tommy makes a call to JP.
Hours later, Vic calls Claudia upset. He demands to know why all of the ingredients for dahlia were leaked onto the internet. Claudia is shocked. She kills Dr. Lauren Williams as a result.
D-Mac is ready to get back on the streets and help Tommy. He shows him how some dealers have been pushing on social media apps just by using certain emojis in a certain order. Tommy agrees to let him grow their customer base using the same methods. But the deal is he has to work from the couch. D-Mac agrees.
While Diamond and Tommy are speaking at one of their territories, the Serbs pull up. They claim Jenard gave them their territory, so they need to go. Tommy refuses. He reminds them that he paid them for protection and they failed. So they owe him. And he and Diamond’s crew aren’t leaving. He’s ready for war. They tell him it’s not over before driving off. But he has to leave immediately when he receives a call about a family emergency.
Turns out JP and Kate had to rush D-Mac back to the hospital. HIs gunshot wounds are infected. Luckily, Maria is there to get him a room during a busy time. She is a nurse. Tommy thanks her for her speedy help. And she’s a bit disappointed when he sees she is dating a coworker.
The feds are ready to make their move.
The Serbs beat up Jenard for the issue with Tommy. They tell him he better fix it and get them that territory. Or he’ll be killed soon.
When Vic arrives at Claudia’s, she tells him she killed Dr. Lauren Williams. Vic is furious and questions why she didn’t talk to him before she made this call. She tells him she did what needed to be done. And he tells her he’s out of the partnership because she made moves without him. Now he can’t trust her.
Tommy rolls up on Chewy. He proudly tells Tommy he’s running with Jenard now. And he wants Tommy out of their neighborhood. When he pulls out his gun to shoot, it’s too late. Tommy kills him.
Now that the feds know who Tommy is, they are ready to pursue him because that means they can take out the Flynns, Serbs, and Miguel simultaneously.
What are your thoughts on the episode?
This is one of my favorite shows. It’s so much action and stuff going on that an hour passes so fast. It’s crazy how money and ego will put people against each other. I see the growth in Tommy and how important family is to him. I’m not sure about giving his mom drugs though. I saw the yearning for the affection of his mom in his eyes when his mom was tending to his nephew. Great writing.
Same. I love this show 🥰.
