Mena explains herself.

While the group is still in The Bahamas, Bambi calls up Erica Mena to tell her about the fallout surrounding her confrontation with Spice. She talks about what was said on speakerphone while Sierra and Amy Luciani listen in. Mena says she “blacked out” and can’t remember all that she said. But she was angry and spoke from a hurt place because Spice brought up her son. In a green screen interview, Amy says this doesn’t give Mena a pass for what she said. And now she wonders who the real Mena is.

Producers have Mena watch a playback of the scene with Spice. She is mortified and says there is no excuse for what she said. Mena apologizes to the Black community. But she knows she will be apologizing for a while to make things right.

Sierra attempts to talk Bambi and Spice into hashing things out. Bambi tells Spice she feels like an apology is owed because Spice came for her for no reason because she was still angry with Mena. Spice says she doesn’t owe Bambi an apology because Bambi became confrontational first. Bambi is just over it at this point. She apologizes and hugs Spice before walking away.

Spice apologizes to Bambi.

As the trip is close to concluding, amends are made. Sierra apologizes to Scrappy for their blowup and for involving herself in his messy split from Bambi. She admits she was just really hurt and hates to see them apart. But she misses her brother. Scrappy accepts her apology. And hey hug it out. Bambi is happy to see this. Interestingly enough, she receives an apology of her own. Spice apologizes for going off on Bambi. She realizes she was just upset with Erica but she didn’t consider Bambi is really stressed out while dealing with her divorce. They hug it out.

In a green screen interview, Bambi says she is grateful for the apology. But she was caught off guard by some of the things Spice said. So she’s going to keep Spice at a safe distance moving forward.

Things escalate between Karlie and Spice.

The good energy doesn’t last. At some point, Rasheeda asks Spice to consider making peace with Karlie. Spice refuses. She claims Karlie disrespected her by renting out because there were too many men around her house and outside smoking. This worries Spice since her children are at home. And she feels like Karlie is violating her safety and privacy. This is why she didn’t want Karlie to buy a house next to hers.

Eventually, Spice tries to attack Karlie. Security prevents the violence but Spice goes off on producers because she wants to put her hands on Karlie. In a green screen interview, Karlie says she can’t believe Spice would try to physically harm her. And she’s done nothing but buy a house she wanted. Regardless, Kirk and Shekinah feel like Spice’s actions are justified because Karlie just had people filming a music video at the house recently. This caused a lot of commotion. So Spice is furious.

Yandy calls out Mena.

As the season wraps up, the cast confirms they haven’t really been able to move forward with Mena. At Bambi’s divorce party, Yandy confronted Mena for calling Spice a monkey. She explained it isn’t cool to use this kind of language due to the racist history. Mena tells Yandy she is only offended because she chose to be. And she wasn’t coming for all Black people. But she’s not racist because she has black in her, Black family members, and Black children. So if Spice comes for her parenting again, she’ll go for the jugular.

When Yandy asks if she means she’ll call Spice a monkey again, Mena says she would not. But she would hit below again if Spice mentions her son. Yandy comes to the conclusion that Mena still doesn’t get it. And it’s a lost cause attempting to talk to her about it. So most of the cast understands why it was decided to fire Mena from the show.

What are your thoughts on the season finale?

  1. I’m really tired of Spice! Yes, I do believe that Erica was totally wrong for the disrespectful name calling but that’s who she is and she’s been that way since she’s been on the show. You hit her below the belt and she lost full control.

I have a problem when people think it’s okay for them to say hurtful things to you but you have to dissect and think about what words you can say in return. In the real world, that doesn’t happen.

I think Spice and Erica should have been fired. Spice has been very disrespectful and now she’s using this situation to make her look like she’s a bigger person. No, you’re not! You were wrong with Erica, you were wrong with Bambi and you were wrong with Carli.

I do believe that Erica had not felt the effects of her words at the time that Yandi spoke with her. Yandi, I believe is one of the executive producers. So, you’ve had some time to cool down and become humble and remorseful. That’s why Erica is where she is now.

Lessons should be learned across the board. Reality TV should leave children and racism out of the mouths of all individuals.

It’s a sad show and it needs to go back to the basics. Where is Rich Dollars, Chrissy and Jim (Oh, that’s NY, right?). Yandi, you’ve got to do better with a casting update.

    1. This show is horrible now. Get it together Black people. You can’t just blame Erica. Let someone talk about your child and see what you do.

    2. Yes , Spice hit below the belt but that still does NOT justify saying anything racist. Erica could have called Spice every name imaginable but she chose to go after color. As far as that “blacking out” that is a bunch of crap… Erica has used that same racist term against another castmate in NYC and went as far as to call some other people of color “black monkeys” so lets not sugar coat it. It is sad that unfortunately she lost her job, but it is also a learning lesson… watch what you say when the cameras are rolling !

  2. I’M NOT TAKING SIDES HOWEVER SPICE SHOULD NEVER HAVE BROUGHT UP ERICA’S SON. PEOPLE LOSE CONTROL BEHIND THINGS LIKE THAT. THIS INCIDENT MAY BE DIFFERENT BUT SOMETIMES WHEN PEOPLE BECOME THAT ANGRY THEY LET PEOPLE KNOW HOW THEY REALLY FEEL ABOUT THEM. ERICA WAS WRONG AS WELL BUT IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE HAS TURNED ON HER AND ARE NOT HOLDING SPICE ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT SHE SAID. IN MY OPINION THE BOTH OF THEM SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE SHOW. 🙏💜

  3. Racist Latina love to sleep with Black Men but call Black Women Monkey.

Unfortunately SOME Black Women seek validation and don’t mind being considered Monkeys. Meanwhile the rest of us are not defending Erica because we have dignity…..Erica can fend for herself

  4. Spice needs to sit down somewhere because what Karlie did wasn’t that SERIOUS! why is there still discussion about racial slurs when correct actions were taken now let’s move on

    1. Yes i feel it was so disrespectful on Erica saying that to Spice But I also think that Spice get out hand too I feel that none of these young women they argue to much they need to inspire someone I think they to cancel must of them out

  5. The only people that say racial slurs are racists, you say what you mean and mean what you say. Blaming it on a “black out” is a straight up cop out ! Many have had heated arguments and you say what you feel will hurt the most…. . race is what Erica chose to go after. People of color have to endure racist remarks and the bull s#$% excuses that come after it is said, when does it stop? What is really funny we are called monkeys but our walk, talk, mannerism, and style is copied more than any other.

  6. Ever since Spice had her near death experience she has become very angry and confrontational. I feel really bad for Karlie. From what I have viewed, Karlie wanted to be her friend and had so much love for Spice. To watch her be so mean and evil towards Karlie is heartbreaking. Spice may have her reasons, but going after Karlie like a tasmanian devil is not the way. She needs to take a deep breath and sit down and talk to Karlie like a civilized grown woman would.
