Dr. Alicia Agolum is opening up about her marriage on Married 2 Med.

Married to Medicine” newbie Dr. Alicia Egolum is having an interesting first season. She’s already clashed with Toya Bush-Harris. Alicia’s marriage to Dr. Nkemakonam Egolum has been a hot topic on the show and social media. Some people feel like Kema made some insensitive comments about women. In one scene, he insisted women needed to be trained so they could know how to treat their husbands. Dr. Jackie Walters called him out for this and said dogs were trained, not women. Regardless, Kema said he trained Alicia. So he didn’t have to worry about her not fixing him a dinner plate.

Toya later asked Alicia why she didn’t take issue with Kema saying he trained her. Alicia said Kema was just joking. When Toya said it didn’t seem like Kema was joking and he’d said something similar in the past, Alicia clapped back. She told Toya that Dr. Eugene Harris needed to train her. In her opinion, Toya is disrespectful to Eugene. She said a man should be able to give his wife a “look” when she’s doing too much. And that should be enough to get her in line.

Toya and Eugene look at marriage differently. Eugene said he has no desire to control Toya in any shape or form. And they believe in having a partnership because they are equal. Dr. Damon Kimes said Kema reminded him a lot of himself. And Alica and Kema’s marriage mirrors the one he has with Dr. Heavenly Kimes.

Fans had strong opinions about Alicia and Toya’s scene on social media. While some agreed with Alicia’s perspective, others think Kema’s comments were problematic. And they expressed this when Blogger Jays Reality Blog reposted the scene on X.

When Alicia caught wind of the criticism, she responded.

She wrote, “It’s funny how people are so accustomed to seeing wives emasculate their husbands on this show; that when you see a proper dynamic between a husband and wife (that is actually willing to show their issues); then their relationship is considered ‘foreign.'”

Alicia added, “#hestheheadandImtheneck.”

  1. I like Alicia because she speaks up for herself but she can chill out with the gaslighting. Her husband made a fool out of himself. We’re not wrong for noticing.

  2. Alicia???? Why don’t you have that same energy for Heavenly, because she definitely goes too far. Look I take care of my husband as well and he takes care of me. It’s called a HELPMATE. He is the head of the household snd the provider, but he wouldn’t and does not treat me as if I am beneath him or a child bearing servant either.#Partners in marriage. Kema sounds foolish and she should be embarrassed. Redirect that negative energy back to your husband and find your way to the Bank, then another Bank. And you shouldn’t even be upset with anybody because he was that way before you married him and you said I do anyway. #yourproblem

  3. Alicia needs to stop. The way Kema talks is problematic for a lot people. If she likes it fine for her, but don’t get mad if others don’t.
