More of Raq’s associates are taken out.
Unique continues his slaughter of Raq’s associates. Hours after killing her lawyer Andre, he goes to the restaurant Raq uses to wash her cash to confront Richard and Sunny, the husband and wife who manage the business. Before he was thought to be dead, the couple worked for Unique. So he takes this as some sort of betrayal, killing both after they fill his bags with cash.
Kanan brings over his grandmother Joyce’s medication. She confirms she is done trying to fight cancer. It has spread throughout her body. So she’ll have to take Kanan’s advice and tell her children.
Jukebox is granted an entry-level separation from the army when she tells them she’s gay and willing to take the legal route if they don’t let her walk.
Lou Lou isn’t happy to discover B-Rilla slept on his couch because he has nowhere to go. The advance Lowell gave him wasn’t great. So Lou will have to figure things out with Lowell since he promised the rapper the deal would be his second chance at life.
Raq questions Marvin about Stefano.
Marvin learns about Richard and Sunny being murdered by the cops. He heads to Raq to give her the news. He suspects their nephew had something to do with it since he was recently fired for stealing. When Raq tells Marvin the feds saw him meeting Stefano alone, he says it’s a case of mistaken identity.
Raq meets with Mr. Irwin after his family members, Sunny and Richard, were killed at the restaurant Raq uses. He owns the restaurant and many more. But he wants to terminate his business deal with Raq after his loved ones were slain. Raq lets him know he knows too much now. She’d have to kill him if he walked away.
After a very tense start, Lou is able to make sure Lowell and B Rilla have a productive conversation. Lowell agrees to the label giving B Rilla an advance and bonus so he can take care of himself and his family.
Marvin locates Sunny and Richard’s nephew. He realizes the nephew didn’t pull the trigger when he becomes emotional about their deaths. Marvin encourages their nephew to check on the deceased couple’s daughter since she just lost everything. He later asks an associate (also the only person who knows Unique is still alive) to locate a child in the system so he can reunite her with a family member. Marvin also pushes the man to find info on who hit the restaurant.
Marvin checks on Amber.
Raq seems touched by Lou Lou’s speech as his sobriety is celebrated at one of his AAA meetings. He tells the audience he wasn’t able to get clean until he learned how to forgive himself for trying to take his own life.
Jukebox is struggling to decide what’s next after the army and college don’t work out. She goes to her first lesbian club.
When Unique drops off some cash to Marvin’s associate, he realizes Unique was the one who hit up Raq’s restaurant. He tells Unique he is playing with fire but Unique says he is the fire.
Marvin visits Amber after school is done for the day. She tells him she misses Gerald and Alice when he asks her how her foster family has been treating her. Marvin gives Amber money and his phone number, instructing her to call him whenever she needs anything. They hug each other goodbye.
Raq’s product supplier Quan presses her for the identity of who killed his cousin-in-law at the restaurant. He believes a message needs to be sent. And she’s not moving fast enough.
Raq goes off on Joyce.
Kanan and Krystal secure their first apartment together. They were able to bypass a credit check with plenty of cash.
Unique watches his baby momma Pernessa from his car as she is preparing to call it a night. He leaves an envelope in her mailbox. Unique later shows up at Kanan’s old apartment, drawing a gun on one of his workers.
Meanwhile, Raq and the others make it to Joyce’s home for dinner. She got them all to agree to show up at the mention of needing to tell them something. Before she and Kanan head inside, Raq tells him the school notified her he stopped going. Kanan is done with school. Raq says the plan for him was college and Kanan scoffs at his. He questions if she’s crazy to expect college from him after she had him commit multiple crimes.
When Joyce tells everyone she is dying from cancer, Raq becomes outraged. She figures out that Kanan knew and as far as she’s concerned, Joyce can’t right her wrongs with one last family dinner.
