On the Season 4 finale of “Raising Kanan,” Kanan and Raq’s problems escalate to the point of no return. Here is the recap for, “Gimme The Weight.”
Stefano is done.
Jukebox consoles Kanan after she tells him Krystal was found dead. He’s very emotional and even trashes his apartment upon learning her fate. Kanan later tells Juke he believes what Snaps and Pop told him about Raq being behind Krystal’s death. Juke is wary about believing what the couple said and warns Kanan that it would benefit them to lie to turn him against Raq. Regardless, Kanan tells Juke that he knows Raq better than anyone, even her. And she takes away everyone he cares about.
Raq and Lou Lou’s meeting with Unique is a waste of time. After he taunts Lou about sleeping with Raq, he claims Kanan wants to work with him to take her down. Raq reminds Unique he has people he cares about too. So if he doesn’t leave Kanan alone, his loved ones are fair game.
Marvin visits Stefano in hopes of smoothing things over after Early divulged everything. Stefano is done with him and Raq. Doing business with them has made Russo and his crew in Jersey feel as if they can take him out. So he will no longer do business with Raq and Marvin.
Snaps and Pop have plans for Kanan.
Lou Lou finds out Pernessa’s location for insurance.
The owner of the restaurants Raq’s been using tells her he’s out. Too many people have died because of her business, so he wants nothing to do with her anymore. Her threats won’t work either because he moved his family back to China and he’s the only one left behind. And he’s okay with dying in his old age.
He believes Raq is a monster who doesn’t realize it.
Detective Garcia wants to talk to Juke about Krystal. He says witnesses saw a black woman leave the place Krystal’s corpse was found.
Kanan goes to Pop and Snaps to ask them if they know who is responsible for Krystal’s death. They change topics and urge him to work with Unique. Kanan says he never agreed to link up with Unique. The couple wants him to work with Unique and their nephew Branford. Raq never gave them a cut, so it’s time to replace her operation.
Stefano is blindsided.
Unique visits Sal’s widow Teresa to talk her into protecting Pernessa and his son by instigating a feud between her and Russo. He claims Russo doesn’t want to hit back at Stefano and Raq. Teresa thinks Raq and Stefano need to pay for Sal’s death.
Marvin takes out Early and his associate. Before leaving, he steals their fresh Chinese food.
Jukebox confronts Raq about Krystal. Raq once again says she has nothing to do with what happened to Krystal. She had no reason to hurt Krystal or Famous. And Juke is like Marvin, rushing into a situation with no knowledge. Raq says she would rather be like Marvin than Raq.
Stefano and Russo meet alone. It is revealed they collaborated to take out Sal so Russo could replace him. Russo stabs Stefano when he says it’s time for the truth to be revealed.
Lou tries to talk sense into Kanan about Raq. He tells him that he nor Marvin had the heart to take their mother out of her misery. But Raq did. She’s always taking on the difficult things for the entire family. So she’s more of a man than most.
Breeze makes his debut.
Marvin tells Raq that Stefano is done with them. She goes off on him about consistently screwing things up. He reminds her she isn’t perfect and made mistakes as well before storming off.
Iesha tries to convince Juke to join her at Spelman College. She doesn’t want to leave Marvin. Juke feels he’s the only one who would never leave her. And she has to look out for him because no one else will.
Snaps and Pop introduce Kanan to their nephew Branford. He tells Kanan he prefers to be called Breeze.
Juke talks to Marvin about her icy talk with Raq. He says Raq had nothing to do with Krystal’s death and that is not her style.
After stabbing Stefano, Russo tells Unique he “took a big swing and missed.” If Stefano survives, nothing matters. So Unique is free to go after Raq.
Kanan finds Raq.
Raq gives Lou Lou the go-ahead to start pursuing Unique and his crew. He later snatches up Pernessa and Unique’s son, forcing them into his car with B-Rilla.
Gerald’s daughter Amber meets her new foster parents. Marvin looks on from across the street in his car, giving her assurance that it will work out this time.
Detective Garcia tells Kanan a black woman was seen leaving the place where Krystal’s body was found. Later, he snaps on Juke pointing a gun in his face, warning her that stopping him means she’s against him. After he leaves in a rage, Juke makes a phone call.
Unique’s crew shoots at Marvin while he’s out but he luckily is not hit.
Kanan pulls up on Raq while she’s on the phone. He accuses her of killing people he loves so he won’t have anyone but her. She denies killing Krystal and Famous. Raq tries to convince him that she loves him but Kanan refuses to put the gun down. The episode ends with the screen going black and a gunshot can be heard.
