‘Basketball Wives LA’ Suffers Huge Drop in Ratings, Is Shaunie Thinking About Pulling the Plug?

Basketball Wives LA has suffered a huge drop in ratings, despite the drama that the cast mates have created with one another on the last couple of episodes. It seems as if even the controversial Draya Michele herself can’t even save the show, as less and less viewers turn in for the show each week, despite Draya’s interesting Twitter antics.

Here’s the report:

Viewers are tuning out Basketball Wives LA by the droves…

According to reports Basketball Wives LA’s viewership has dropped every week since the second season premier.

After a strong showing with 1.8 million viewers for the first episode, Basketball Wives LA dropped down to down to 1.2 million viewers for episode five.

According to ratings reports from TV By The Numbers, last season the show was averaging around 2 millions viewers per episode. So the the drop in ratings is a massive one, and most likely has caused concern for producers and VH1 executives.

There could be many reasons why the show is struggling this season, but I think the biggest one is Love And Hip Hop Atlanta. Since Love And Hip Hop Atlanta, it appears that the other reality shows on the network are struggling and have seen pretty significant drops in ratings. Also, I know several people who have told me they could not get into Basketball Wives LA this season after Love And Hip Hop Atlanta because the show was just too boring in comparison to watching Stevie J. and Joseline every week.

Another issue is that the ladies on the show don’t seem to do much more than go out for coffee and dinner to talk about how crazy they think one of their cast mates is (Jackie Christie).

Interestingly enough, around the same time the reports went viral, Shaunie tweeted about a failed business move that needs to be revamped:

Some say they think Shaunie will pull the plug on the LA spinoff all together, but if this tweet is in reference to Basketball Wives LA, it sounds like Shaunie is planning to revamp the cast.

  1. She just needs to get rid of the show period. And honestly. Basketball Wives Miami too. I have a feeling BBW Miami will suffer the same fate and get terrible ratings this season. They already cut several people that had decent sized fan bases, and kept the people most people don’t even like. Plus besides all the violence they showed last season, Miami was pretty boring too last season. I don’t see that improving. Who wants to just watch several old chicks go to dinner every day and argue? It’s gotten old.

  2. Revamp the cast? Just get rid of the show! Get rid of both shows! We never see these women do anything of substance, so why keep them on TV? Shaunie is NOT a real boss or business woman if this is the best she can do in television.

  3. I’m not even surprised. The show is about as exciting as watching paint dry. You can’t expect people to watch that after LHHATL.

  4. The show sucks. Period. The only interesting person is Draya and she’s actually more interesting on Twitter than she is on the show.

  5. I don’t even know why they made a spin off. Most people only watch the original BBW for the people on the show. These ladies aren’t as interesting by a long shot.

  6. I never really gave this show a chance. I watched a few episodes and found the cast pretty boring to be honest. BBW Miami is probably going to be boring too. I mean the fighting was ratchet last season, but now Evelyn and Tami really can’t act a fool next season. None of them have real careers, so they will be doing the same stuff these chicks are doing…going to dinner and grabbing coffee while talking about high school issues like who doesn’t like who.

  7. She will revamp the show before she loses any money and takes it off the air. And she’ll put some ratchets in the line up next time. They have to compete against LHHATL.

  8. I’m shocked they are even getting one million viewers. The show sucks and I can’t even get through 5 minutes of it.

  9. Eh…I’m good on this show, Looks like most people feel the same way. It’s crazy they can’t even get 2 million, when LHHATL had like 3.5-6 million and episode. Crazy.

  10. I agree with everyone, but I am willing to give them a chance to become the show we all need & want to watch. I support them, I rather watch them. Rather than see Jersey Shore:) or the other shows that follow in that circle. Let’s just hope that they bring more to the table this time, other than drama. I want to see more positive Black women do their thing & gain respect. Idk..I will still tune in, I like the new member Bambi. She seems to be real, sad to say. Even crazy xxxx Jackie!

  11. I think the show deserves a final chance but it will need to be revamped, I think Brooke, should have been invited back because she can and will bring more once she talk to the men (lol) she play with and she is comfortable airing. However Bambi needs to be left in the dark with her two faced friend Malaysia (sad) but I liked Malaysia when she first came aboard ony to find out she sneaky and just as rachet especially when around her friend Bambi. Jackie needs to go sit down somewhere or since she just have to do everything someone else is doing GO start her own show and see how many viewers she gets. Laura I Love her and was hoping she would be on the next season. Gloria I like but she can be fickle at times and Draya is a nice person and for each it’s own but she needs to get back into dating men and stop taling about eating kitty all the time now. Draya why don’t you reveal your son father ( Hot Topic) lol .

    1. yes i kind of like the show but i hated every week to see a lets dump on draya again. im like dont they have something to do other than focus on drqaya and her personal life? SO what if draya has a past we all do. some of us had pasts worst than drayas. but we grow and learn not to repeat them. yes shaunie need to revamp the cast.
