Is Nicki Minaj leaving pop music and going back to her Hip-Hop roots? Nicki Minaj has held on tight to her spot as the leading lady of YMCMB. And has managed to accomplish things that no other female rapper has done in the past. Much of Nicki’s success is due to that fact that she has a highly dedicated fan base that supports everything with her name attached to it and attends her sold out shows across the country. Although the Barbz and Kens of the world show their love to her at all times and rarely have anything negative to say about her, not everyone feels the same way about Nicki as she has been called out yet again for her diva antics on the set of a music video shoot. And her infamous beef with Mariah Carey on ‘American Idol’ was talked about for weeks, Nicki claiming that Mariah “met her match”. Either way, her fans aren’t fazed by any of it and seem to be looking forward to the new music she is about to drop. Nicki Minaj interacts with her fans on Twitter a lot and keeps them updated on the things that she is doing when it comes to her music. Nicki was asked by a fan whether or not her new album “The Re-Up” would include any pop tracks. And to many people’s surprise, Nicki responded by saying that she is going away from pop music on this one:
Nicki Minaj has been criticized over and over again for ditching her Hip-Hop roots to go pop and now it seems that she is headed back to her old self again, some of her fans upset by it while others are ready for her to bring the gritty flow back.
She’s going to lose a big chunk of her fan base.
Don’t try to come back to Hip Hop now that your 15 mins are up. LOL. We’re good over here. We got Kendrick Lamar now, Don’t need ya!

But why? She wasn’t that great of a lyricist when she was all hip hop. She can’t compare to any of the female rappers before her.
I wonder what made her change her mind. Is it because of all the backlash she’s been getting from people who call her a sell out? She was acting like it didn’t phase her. If it didn’t, why ditch pop music?
Won’t matter. Her time is almost up as far as relevance is concerned. She has young, fickle fans who won’t like that change. They will then crown a new “queen.”

Oh come on yall. First yall were complaining that she “abandoned” Hip Hop and went Pop. Now yall are complaining that she’s leaving Pop to return to Hip Hop. Please stick to one side of your hating. I really can’t keep up . 😉

I don’t believe her. The day she gives up Pop will be the beginning of her downfall. I can’t stand her, but one thing she isn’t is stupid. That would be stupid on her part. Maybe she’s just lying, she seems to do a lot of that.
I don’t care what kind of music she makes. I’m pretty sure it will still be terrible.

Now Barbee you know I love you, but there’s no way in hell Nicki can ever sh-t on any of the female rappers that came before her. She can’t even sh-t on Beyonce (a big fave on here), and she’s not even a rapper. She got lucky and was smart enough to create an image that got popular. But don’t expect her to out rap anyone or be anything other than lackluster on stage. She doesn’t have the talent to do that.
i like her as a pop artist. she needs to stick to pop, she does that right.
