Lil’ Wayne has been making moves as a solo artist for some years now and has been instrumental in helping launch the careers of other artists on his Young Money label including Drake and head female of the crew Nicki Minaj. As it is true that Lil’ Wayne has a lot of fans to show for, the rapper has been known to make headlines over his sometimes controversial lyrics and music videos. And as some might argue that his rhymes or videos aren’t anything to get too angry about, the gun charge that Wayne received back in 2007 was not something to brush off at all as the New Orleans born rap star found himself serving time in prison for it. And even with the time that he did in prison, his loyal fans didn’t go anywhere as they continued to support him and the new music that he dropped upon his return home. As Lil’ Wayne has had his other troubles with the law, he spoke on the support that he got during his time in prison and he revealed that the gun charge that he received was the one that he regretted the most in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that took place in Newtown, CT in a recent interview that he did on Showtime:

“If there was anything I could do in my life that I could ever change, it’d be that,”

And he sent a message to those affected by the school shooting, holding back tears:

“Sandy Hook Elementary, my heart goes out to you.”

As we are used to seeing Lil’ Wayne cracking jokes and being his often rambunctious self, this was one moment when the rapper was most serious, offering his condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the tragic event.

  1. This is interesting. Most likely lip service or he fell off the skateboard one too many times. Either way, it needed to be said.

  2. I respect him for admitting his mistakes, I just hope he’s trying to improve and be a better example for his own kids.
