K. Michelle isn’t letting her time on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta go to waste. Since the first season of the show wrapped up and ended in one of the most “ratchet” reunion shows ever, K. Michelle has been making power moves when it comes to her music career. The singer inked a major record deal a couple of months ago with Warner Bros. Records. And she has even landed the cover of King Magazine and a short lived high profile romance with NBA star J. R. Smith. While that relationship fizzled quickly and ended in plenty of shading on Twitter, K. Michelle continues to use her new found fame to move forward with her music career.

K. Michelle can now add another magazine spread to her growing resume, as the reality star recently did a spread for Kontrol Magazine. The R&B singer also opened up about her music career, and why she feels she couldn’t have done anything else other than singing.

Check out the spread and some of the best quotes from the interview:

Pretty.

On her love for singing and passion for pursuing a music career, K. Michelle says:

“I always used to walk around the house singing when I was a little girl, and they used to tell me to shut up! (laughs). They [her parents] always knew I was gonna do something with music. I just decided it was what was what I was supposed to do. Every time I tried to walk away from it, it didn’t happen.”

K. Michelle might cause a lot of controversy, but she feels it’s important for anyone in the music business to never forget that it’s always about the music:

“There’s a lot of things you can overcome and a lot of different things you will go through in the business, but there’s nothing more important than the music.”
