Fantasia Barrino has no problem clapping back at people these days as the former American Idol winner just recently slammed the folks over at JET Magazine over the image they decided to use for her latest cover with them. Fantasia has said before that she has made some changes in her life, one of them being cutting the strings on her romantic relationship with her baby’s father Antwaun Cook, a romantic involvement of hers that caused Fantasia to have to deal with a lot of backlash from the media, her critics and some of her fans alike. Trying to move past the situation and not trying to look back on it was what Fantasia was in the process of doing. But with the release of the JET cover, the magazine using an old image of Fantasia, it struck a nerve with the singer. JET didn’t seem at all moved by Fantasia’s rant and the Editor in Chief of the publication went as far to call Fantasia illiterate, later apologizes for her comments.
Though the situation has started to die down somewhat since it first occurred, in a recent interview that she did with Power 99, Fantasia addressed the situation one last time. And Fantasia said that she is not the same person that she once was before, one who generally didn’t speak up on things. And Fantasia makes it clear that she will stand up for herself when she doesn’t agree with how she is portrayed, something that she says JET is not used to seeing from her:
“For me, it wasn’t for anybody but me. I worked so hard to get to where I am now. And I don’t want to take it back, I want to move on. You know, if I don’t stand for something. I’ll fall for anything. And I think they [JET] were used to that Fantasia that never said anything and that’s why stuff got haywire and so much was said about me. It was almost like using me as a clown act. I’m not that girl anymore. So I just wanted them to know, don’t take it back ten years when we’ve worked so hard and did a shoot for 10 hours to show the new look with the new music. That’s all.”
Even after every thing that went down between her and the publication, Fantasia says that she would work with JET Magazine again in the future.

Get em Fanny…
Fair enough. Glad she’s in a happy place.
It annoys me when celebs blame the media for how they look. Don’t give the media the ammunition…
I still think she didn’t handle the situation with JET the right way. But the Editor In Chief clearly took things way too far.
It was al petty. If they weren’t going to use the pics, they should have told her. Then maybe things wouldn’t have gotten so ugly.
*all
I still think she overreacted. The pics she sent in were ridiculous and didn’t seem suitable for the magazine cover. The one they chose is still a great one, even if it is old.
