Nicki Minaj Hints She’s Not Returning for Another Season of ‘Idol’

Nicki Minaj hasn’t had the easiest time as a newbie judge on American Idol. The female rapper’s new gig caused a beef with legendary singer Mariah Carey before both even sat down at the panel together, and things got even worse once the two divas were face to face judging talent. It was rumored that Mariah doesn’t feel Nicki is qualified enough to judge talent considering she’s still somewhat newer to the music industry, and the tension between both stars might be one of the factors as to why the show isn’t pulling in the ratings this season. Nicki has also been having some behind the scenes drama with producers according to reports, and it’s speculated that her showing up late on numerous occasions to the set of the talent show has left a nasty taste in the mouth of the producers of the show. As a result, many suspect Nicki Minaj may not be invited back for another season, and in a recent interview, the Young Money starlet may have confirmed the rumors.

When asked if she plans on returning to the show next season during an “Idol” conference call with reporters, Nicki delivers what sounds like a farewell speech. She says:

“Would I come back next season? I think people would rather be surprised. I like to save the mystery and the drama. I’d never give that away. I always say this and I mean it from the bottom of my heart, just that people behind the scenes at ‘Idol’ have been a dream to work with. I’m just super grateful to have been given the opportunity.”

Of course Nicki was pressed further by reporters, and she then elaborated:

“I’d rather not speak about that at this time. I feel like I’ve kind of already answered it, but I would rather not even give any insight because I kind of feel like it’s exciting for people to not know who the next season’s judges will be.”
