Trayvon Martin’s brother gets a rather important internship? The tragic death of Trayvon Martin has clearly polarized the African American community. And now that it’s clear the jurors wanted George Zimmerman to be a free man, people are still making their opinions known on one of the most high-profile trials the country has seen in a long time. Trayvon’s parents Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton have made it clear they will continue to keep fighting in honor of the son’s memory, but it now appears his brother Jahvaris Fulton plans to do the same thing and could possibly look into getting involved with politics and community service to put an end to these senseless killings and racially motivated murders of young black males. According to reports, Jahvaris is interning with a Florida congresswoman. NBC News reports:

The brother of Trayvon Martin, whose shooting death by George Zimmerman gained international attention over the past year, is currently serving as an intern for Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., her office confirmed to NBC News.

A Florida jury found Zimmerman not guilty of of 2nd degree murder and manslaughter on July 13. Zimmerman says he shot the teen in self defense.

Martin’s brother Jahvaris Fulton attends Florida International University in Miami, Fla., according to his Twitter page.

Fulton, who testified in the case against Zimmerman, is interning at the Democratic congresswoman’s office in Miami Gardens.

According to Wilson’s office, Fulton is also part of the 5000 Roll Models of Excellence Project. Founded by Wilson 20 years ago, the project is a drop-out prevention and mentoring program that addresses needs and issues facing at-risk boys in Miami-Dade schools.

  1. That’s great. God makes no mistakes man. It’s amazing how much beauty has grown from such a large pile of manure. I pray for continued progress and growth as the days pass. Trayvon’s death will not be in vain. Can’t wait to see the end product of everyone’s contributions.

  2. This is why I have a problem with what Lil Mo’s ratchet azz said about Stevie Wonder. She’s not bright enough to understand the power people can have to make changes in the community. Trayvon’s family refuses to let that verdict stop them or discourage them. Instead it made them do more. Man I love my people. I really do.

  3. It’s pretty awesome to see so many people fighting to make a change. Something good is coming out of all of this.
