Jay Z might have yet another platinum album on his hands, but the rapper and business man is still a favorite target of criticism. While people are still fuming over his response to Harry Belafonte in which he proclaimed his presence alone is charity after Belafonte suggested he nor Beyonce do enough for the black community, it appears yet another legendary Hip Hop act has some words for him. Iconic group Run DMC recently opened up about the current state of Hip Hop, and they claimed people who like Jay Z and Lil Wayne are just brainwashed to like them and the music they make isn’t real Hip Hop. DMC tells Daily Star:
“Now you got the same 12 records on radio being played over and over again. Lil Wayne, Jay Z ain’t hot, it’s just they’re programmed so many times people are brainwashed.
“What made us, KRS, Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul great was that we wanted to change the world, taking responsibility for our actions.
“Now everything that’s negative in stupid a*s America is celebrated.”
The group goes on to say that they made positivity cool and “gangsta” and they weren’t so focused on getting multimillion dollar endorsement deals.
Run DMC is just the latest Hip Hop old heads to make their feelings of disappointment known regarding the current state of Hip Hop and so far, Jay Z continues to be a favorite target for old heads.
Another old person talking down to the younger generation. The funny thing is when they were young and rapping, old people criticized them and their music. It’s a cycle that never stops.

He has a right to his opinion but it’s sounding more and more like people aren’t even listening to Jay Z’s music and just want to criticize it. I agree with Lil Wayne being trash though.

American blacks are their worst enemy smh . he’s just bitter because they just cannot comprehend the amount of money these artist are making. these old guys think everyone should kiss their a-s. they are bitter to know that they have nothing to show from their career. they never own their masters like jay z. they never dream of the money jay z made from hip hop . its all about the money.
