busting onto the sceneK. Michelle came during the first season of “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta,” and unlike most reality stars with a talent for music; she was actually able to nab a record deal with a major label. Just months after the first season, K. Michelle inked a deal with Warner Bros. and began working on her very first studio album. The singer made it clear she wanted to make an album she felt was real, and she planned to put all of her trials and tribulations into her songs. It was only fitting to her to name her album “Rebellious Soul,” and although the first single “V.S.O.P.” is getting lots of plays on the radio, her label didn’t market her album as tough as other artists have recently, but it appears that hasn’t managed to stop her from outselling them with her first week sales.

As we reported recently, projection album sales for “Rebellious Soul” suggested K. Michelle would sell about 67,000 copies in the first week. Interestingly enough, the projections alone beat out the first week sales for the recent albums released by both established R&B singers Ciara and Kelly Rowland. And considering K. Michelle has never released a studio album before, beating out established acts is a very big deal.

Now the final numbers are in, and it looks as if the projections were on point. “Rebellious Soul” sold 72,000 copies. She also nabbed the top spot on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and the Top R&B Albums charts. The album landed the second spot in the country according to the Billboard 200 chart.

If that’s not great enough, K. Michelle net the highest on the Billboard 200 for a female R&B singer since March 2011 (Marsha Ambrosius).

K. Michelle took to her Twitter account recently, and thanked all of her fans:

#2 album overall on Billboard 200 and #1 R&B album! I’m humbled and I thank my team and fans for believing and riding with me!

Congrats to K. Michelle.

    1. THAT’S 72,000 — Just read and she wasnt even marketed that hard. When she gets better marketing there is no telling how big she is gonna be. So many people are going to relate to this REAL! I cant wait to hear what next for k! Get it girl! She out sold alot of others that should have gone platinum. I cant wait to see what her final sales will end up being once she gets more popular. Radio is key though. They need to play more songs from this album than jus VSOP but just play it, play it, play it. Everybody dont watch Love and Hip hop so…… 72,000 –Good Job! Very Good Job K!
