Kandi Burruss and her fiance Todd Tucker are all set to wed soon, but they still can’t seem to get Kandi’s mom on board for the impending nuptials. Instead, Kandi’s mom Joyce Jones has made it clear on numerous occasions that she thinks Todd is nothing more than an opportunist, and she just does not think the marriage will last. Although it did seem as if Kandi and Todd tied the knot a couple of weeks ago in Cancun, the couple later denied that they got married, and Kandi’s says the one person holding everything up is her mom. The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star says it’s hard to plan a wedding when her mother isn’t being supportive.
In the sneak peek of the next episode, Kandi and her mom get into a heated discussion over Todd, and Joyce once again voices her concerns about him. She asks Kandi:
“I know you really like Todd. How much do you know, really know about him?”
Kandi then tells her mom that she’s been making Todd uncomfortable in his own home by being rude towards him:
“You made him feel uncomfortable in his own house.”
Kandi’s mom then says:
“That’s your house!”
Kandi disagrees and says they share the house, and that of course brings Kandi’s mom back to her original point:
“Don’t let no one take advantage of you like that. That’s your house. You paid for that house. He ain’t giving you a dime. He eating, sleeping on you!”
But Kandi feels it’s unfair to label Todd a “scrub” because he is the one that pays the monthly bills on the house. But Joyce isn’t impressed and points out the Kandi is the one who buys the food, making it clear that Joyce may never approve of Todd.

She better listen to her momma.
Excuse me, it is pretty obvious that MAMA is jealous of Todd’s relationship with her daughter. This is not unusual when the mother is living off her child. Trust me, I’ve seen it again and again. She is DOING EXACTLY what she does not want TODD to do. Maybe she needs to get a job and a life of her own and stop sponging off her grown daughter.
Oh man. Well it’s hard for a woman like Kandi to date any man because if he’s not rich, people will automatically assume that he’s just using her. I would like to believe Todd really cares for her but you just never know.
Kandi just better make sure she doesn’t get married until he signs that prenup.
Kandi is a grown woman. Her mom needs to let her make her own decisions. She can’t be too naive if she’s as successful as she is.
Her mom sees something and just wants to protect her.
Well Todd is a lot better than the last guy Kandi was engaged to. Kandi has bad taste in men, but Todd seems like a decent guy. Her mom should chill out. I feel like she didn’t even go this hard with the last one and she should have.
Momma be knowing.
It’s so hard to be with someone your mom hates. I hope everything works out for the best.
I kind of feel bad for Kandi because it has to suck to be in love with someone your mom can’t stand and you can’t even see the bad she’s warning you about for yourself. Todd seems like a nice guy, but because she has so much money, she has to be really careful.
This is why I think Kandi should date someone in the business. They come to the relationship with their own money, and the likelihood of them using her is slim.
Dating someone in the business isn’t always better though. They may have money but they also come with a whole different set of problems I’m sure Kandi doesn’t want to deal with.

Sometimes parents can see things we can’t but some parents can also be so attached to their kids that no one will ever be good enough, and sabotaging their kids’ relationships with anyone that gets closer to them than the parent is is inevitable. Prime example Momma Dee. Kandi’s mom said the same thing about AJ the last guy she was with. She was fine with Todd in the beginning and now he’s a bad guy. In my opinion, I believe the mother is jealous, especially when Kandi bought that house last season and she actually wanted to move in there with them. Sometimes family members, parents included, can be the main ones jealous of you and if you don’t have enough sense to know better, can deter you from living your life and being happy. Kandi needs to examine this carefully.
OMG this lady is sooooo selfish! She said she don’t want Kandi to choke on a chicken bone and Todd tells HER she has to get out. This is about her and her fear of if Kandi gets married, she’ll have to give up her cash cow. Wow! That’s really got to be hurtful when it’s your own mother who doesn’t want to see you happy or have more than she has. This lady oughta be ashamed of herself, then to insult your daughter’s ring, SMDH
I think Momma Joyce is scared that if anything happens to Kandi she will be left out of the loop. She is trying to get Riley on her side so she will still have some kind of communication as to what is going on in their household. I had a situation where my fiance wanted to move me and my two kids to move in with him and my mother got mad with me. We were in love and it’s been 20 years now.It really reminded me of my situation. All it turned out to be was jealously.Now that my mom is sick I’m the only child out of four that takes care of her. She still have that jealousy toward me, but i look over and do what I can and keep her out of my business.
