Beyonce surprised just about everyone and dropped her fifth studio album “Beyonce” at midnight, and it already appears that she’s managed to win big in album sales.

Billboard confirms that Beyonce has sold over 80,000 copies of her new album in just a little over three hours of its release. The publication reports:

In just a three-hour sales window (closing at midnight Friday PT), “Beyonce” reportedly sold over 80,000 copies, according to industry sources. It’s still too early to judge what the set will do over the full three days left in the sales tracking week (which ends Sunday night), but with prior projected leader, “Blame It All On My Roots: Five Decades Of Influences” by Garth Brooks, estimated to shift 150,000-160,000 units, Beyonce is already halfway to that sum. And in the time it would take someone to fly from New York to Miami.

Oh yeah, iTunes also shows that Beyonce is number one in about 60 plus countries, already. And did we mention Beyonce did this with absolutely no promotion at all?

This has been yet another big year for black women in music. And we’re loving it.

  1. That’s amazing. I’m so proud of her. She took a risk and it’s paying off big time. Not only that but the album is very good. Well done Bey!

  2. all the stats cannot correct how much this album sucks. its one big mixtape that should have sold for $5.00. if any other RNB chick put out the garbage you all would be dragging them so hard. no wonder she hid it from the critics. I think this is the worst black female album this year . i’m not even a ciara fan ,but i feel like buying her cd after listening to this garbage. after the hype wears off the we will start to hear how much of a mess this album is.

  3. I hate when Beyonce haters try to lie and pretend they are a stan so their hater opinion can look legitimate and unbiased. LOL.

  4. I am not a Beyonce fan like that. I always felt her music wasn’t quality since her first one. But I absolutely adore this album and it’s the first album I have purchased in a seven years.

  5. Beyoncé will reign regardless of the hate, the comparisons, or the negative reviews from extreme haters, it doesn’t matter. P.S. the album is dope.
