Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict Don’t Believe in Having Gender Roles in Marriage

When asked how Tia and Cory managed to keep their marriage strong despite being in the industry and busy schedules, Tia claims not adhering to gender roles has been very helpful.

She tells MSN:

“I think what Cory and I do is that we don’t put gender roles on our marriage, on our relationship. If I’m working a lot and Cory’s home, he will put Cree to bed and if dishes need to be washed, he will wash them. So it’s not like, ‘I’m going to wait until my wife gets home and she’s going to be doing all the all that and blah, blah, blah.’

“I am not your traditional woman or your traditional mom. I consider myself as a millennial and I have goals and aspirations and I believe that you can go after your dreams and it can work if you have someone there that’s supporting you. And vice versa.

“There were times last year when my husband was gone for like nine months out the year shooting ‘American Sniper’…I had to take on those responsibilities that a father would do. I was out in the backyard teaching my son how to kick a ball or whatever. So we don’t put labels on each other.”

  1. My husband and I have come to the same conclusion. Marriage should be a partnership. When someone has too much on their plate, you see what you can take away to put on yours.

  2. I like that…that’s the type of relationship I want. My BF and I are going thru issues now because I haven’t cut his nails in so long. I haven’t washed the clothes in a couple of weeks. I haven’t ironed his uniforms…Meanwhile he gets off work before me. A lot of times I have to come home cook and clean too. And I am getting tired of doing that shyt…like I am feeling like a slave…and I was also feeling if that was what marriage is about then I don’t want it.
