50 Cent Explains & Defends ‘Empire’ Shade

In an interview with Muscle & Fitness, 50 Cent gets real about his issue with “Empire.”

Complex writes:

“Empire just borrows marketing ideas from Power because they have the same target audience,” 50 said in a recent interview with Muscle & Fitness magazine. “I’ve said it over and over: I don’t have a problem with the cast, I think that they’re going to be great in some of my new projects.”

In addition to stating Empire has lost viewership in every episode, 50 added that he didn’t see Empire sustaining itself and advised those not in favor of his criticism to “check the ratings.”

  1. Why does he constantly compare power to Empire? Power it’s clearly a way better show but it’s not even the same type of show, it’s completely different in my opinion, it’s much more grimy and dark and more entertaining! he seems like he’s threatened by the show in some way I just don’t get it.

    1. Bingo. And it’s been working (and the great writing helps too). Power’s ratings keep going up. That’s why Taraji and them need to stop responding to 50.

  2. As much as I hate to compare the two shows, I have to admit now that he was right. The writing on Empire has actually managed to get even worse. On top of that, Lee Daniels is an ignorant sellout who needs to get therapy.

  3. Empire may not be that great anymore but 50 is jealous that Power doesn’t get as many viewers. That’s the real reason he throws shade. He’s jealous.
