If you’ve been keeping up with the controversy surrounding Chrisette Michele’s choice to perform at the Inauguration, then you already know some folks on social media have been calling her smart because she reportedly pocketed $750,000 for it.
However, the New York Daily News was the first publication to break the story regarding her performance, and they claim she was actually paid $250,000:
There was also no sign of Michele at Friday morning’s inauguration, where TV game show contestant Jackie Evancho performed the National Anthem and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang “America the Beautiful.”
Now we’re being told by sources close to the presidential weekend that Michele has been scheduled to perform at one of tonight’s inaugural balls, where she’ll be a little less visible. That same source tells us that despite rumors that Michele would make $750,000 for her appearance, the actual number is $250,000.

Wait, people were actually praising her for doing this? What is wrong with people? There shouldn’t be a price tag when it comes to your own people. And then we wonder why we can’t change things. Too many of us are just waiting for the right price to sell out.
If she did all this for 250k, she must really be struggling. That’s chump change to an entertainer/artist.
