Someone is editing a video, but viewers have no clue what the video is.
The episode opens up with someone on a computer editing a video, however, viewers are not shown the video nor who is doing the editing.
Eva’s boy toy goes against their agreement and shows up to the fundraiser dinner.
Dr. Fletcher (Eva) is at a fundraiser dinner and gets shook when her boy toy Jason shows up. Weeks ago they agreed that he would not attend, but he walks in with one of his professors.
The professor introduces him to Eva and both pretend it’s their first time meeting.
Not too long after their fake introduction, Eva confronts Jason and tells him he needs to leave. He’s turned on by this and refuses.
Sydney walks up on them and Eva introduces them. She gets annoyed when Syd and Jason begin to flirt. Syd gives him her number and walks away.
Eva once again asks Jason to leave but he’s trying to convince her to leave with him so they can sleep together.
Cecil gets some bad news.
Although he’s a pretty cutthroat band director, Cecil is dealing with some serious health issues that no one on campus seems to know about.
In a flashback scene, it is revealed that he recently learned he has lung cancer, and he tells this to a woman he’s lying in bed with and informs her that he hasn’t spoken to his sister in ten years.
The woman is concerned, but tells him she must leave and he hands over an envelope full of money.
They agree to meet the same time and place on another day, giving viewers the impression that she may be an escort.
Cedric shows up to the dinner to do a favor for Dr. Fletcher.
Cedric shows up to the dinner because Dr Fletcher wants him to perform the spoken word routine he submitted with his application to the school. He reluctantly agrees even though he still feels like an outcast and feels like the majority of the yard thinks he killed his girlfriend.
He runs into Noni, and learns that she hasn’t spoken to Ebony since she left the school.
Their conversation is interrupted when one of the drum majors, Danny, hazes her in front of him and she tells him that she will only tolerate the mistreatment “for now.”
Noni has a plan.
After being embarrassed by Danny, Noni decides to pit him against one of the football players. She starts a conversation with one of the players and tells them that Danny has been urging the other band members to look down on the football team. He’s pissed.
Then Noni tells Danny that the football players have been making gay jokes about the male band members. Now he’s furious.
This sets things in motion later as both confront each other and it turns into a fist fight.
Noni smiles as her plan works and both Danny and the football player are tossed out the event.
Cedric has a change of heart.
In the middle of his spoken word performance, Cedric decides to switch up to rapping instead and he disses the school. Apparently seeing his roommate’s father set him off.
After embarrassing just about all the staff at the party, he drops the mic and leaves.
Sydney learns some devastating information.
Turns out Sydney was raped while she was unconscious. If you recall, she got so drunk at a party during an earlier episode, that some frat boys had to take her back to Dr. Fletcher.
Apparently one of the members was caught on camera raping her in the woods on campus and this is the video that was being edited at the beginning of the episode.
The video is sent to multiple people and Sydney breaks down in tears when her roommate shows her.
The ending was so sad.
I really wasn’t expecting that ending. I thought the video was going to be of Cedric’s girlfriend’s murder.
Girl me too!
This show is getting better each week. BET actually has two decent scripted shows. I’m shocked.
Exactly. I just hope it doesn’t get cancelled over the backlash.
Another good a-s episode.
I really wish Eva would cut off Jason for good. Not feeling their scenes.
I feel so bad for Syd man. And she’s honestly one of the most unlikable characters on the show. So for the writers to make me feel bad for her is a testament to how good this show is.
That’s exactly how I felt as well.
This episode was deep. I was just not expecting that.
Omg! I can’t wait to watch this when I get home from work.
Poor Sydney!
