Cardi B Talks ShETHER, Going to College, Dating Offset and Quitting LHHNY

Here are the highlights from Cardi’s interview with Angie Martinez.

Cardi B says she attended college at BMCC but didn’t graduate. Despite that, she still feels like education is important and she eventually wants to go back and get her degree:

“A lot of people be saying school is not important, school is very important. Yeah, I get that you get street knowledge, but it’s like there’s certain things like you want to know so you can have a conversation.”

She then tells Angie that she would use what she learned in classes to connect with her clients while she was a dancer. For example, she took French classes in college and would speak French to her white clients in the white clubs she worked at.

Cardi also doesn’t think it’s wise for people to assume she’s dumb based off how she speaks:

“I think because my English is not perfect…it’s like a big mixture…like my mom speaks broken English, my Dad speaks Spanish…I talk like people in the hood. It’s all like a big mixture of everything so I feel like people think because I don’t speak properly, they think I’m dumb. Or because I’m a very funny person and I say certain dumb things out my mouth that I just say because I think it’s funny so people think I’m dumb. I’m not going to be like, ‘I’m smart, I’m this and I’m that!’

“You can think I’m dumb, but dumb people don’t go nowhere, so it’s ok.”

She confirmed she has a record deal with Atlantic Records and it’s one of the reasons she’s decided to leave LHHNY.

When it comes to the Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj beef, Cardi wants no parts of the drama:

“That’s none of my business like that’s none of my business. That’s none of my problem. That’s none of my business. That’s not my problem.”

On people telling her that fighting on television is not a good look for her:

“Everybody keep telling me like…sometimes it’s hard to believe the level that I am sometimes because…I just feel like a regular person. I’m still like the same person but people just keep telling me like, ‘you’re not. You’re more than that. You’re more than that.’

“And I’m like, ‘you’re right. I’m more than that.’ So I just gotta stop. And it’s not even because where I’m going in life, I’m a woman. I’m a woman now. I need to stop.”

She also says she feels like a lot of people bully her on the internet and judge her constantly and that bothers her.

When asked about her relationship with Offset from the Migos, she says:

“He’s a good person. And you want to know something? He makes me very like, motivated. Very motivated.”

According to Cardi, her boo is very supportive of her career and believes she is a big star.

On leaving LHHNY, Cardi wants to make it clear that she has no beef with Mona Scott Young:

“Because I really want to focus on my music. I cannot focus on two things at the same time and I know that things are going to come for me and it’s going to be great…it was just too much. There’s so many great things that I’m doing right now and the drama just overshadows it. And it has nothing to do with Mona or checks…she pays good. The production people are great people. Sometimes I get a little mad with them and sometimes they get a little mad with me but it’s all good. Sometimes you just have to move on up…”

  1. Cardi is smart. She’s smart enough to understand that it wouldn’t be wise for her to involve herself in Remy’s mess. She’s going to build her career off her own hype and name unlike Remy. Now that’s how you do it.

  2. Cardi is really out here winning right now. I think she’s going to be the one to give Nicki some competition. Not Remy.
