‘The Quad’ Recap: Sydney Gets Closure from Unexpected Source + Cecil Confronts Noni

The campus is fighting back against a potential merger with a local PWI.

Popular student organizations, including the black greek organizations and the marching band are leading a rally against the merger on the campus.

Noni gives a passionate speech which is cheered on by the other students.

The football coach and Dr. Eva are meeting with Terrence’s mom and her attorney.

They want to make sure there is nothing else they can do for his family as they are still grieving his suicide.

Terrence’s mother says very little as her attorney says the family has one final request.

Eva is put in a difficult situation.

The football team is still flying high after winning a championship.

On their trophy, all of their names are on it except Terrance’s. They feel he should be on there too.

Dr. Eva learns that Terrence’s mother wants her to apologize publicly for Terrence’s death. She refuses and says she will never apologize to the family of the young man who raped her daughter and countless other students.

Sydney forgets something in her room and interrupts Madison’s boo time with her boyfriend from back home. They resume once Sydney leaves.

Eva and Sydney go to another counseling session. Apparently they have been getting therapy together for three months.

Sydney feels like going to therapy means Terrence has control of her from the grave. So she wants to end the therapy sessions for good.

The therapist says it’s not a good idea but Sydney feels journaling and self defense classes are all she really needs.

Since Sydney no longer wants therapy, Eva decides she will end her sessions too.

Despite not being in total agreement, the therapist says that she will respect Sydney and Eva’s decision.

Noni gets a new roommate.

Cedric’s new boo Briana moves in to Noni’s dorm room and he helps her with her things. Noni isn’t thrilled but keeps the conversation short as she heads out.

Dr. Fletcher meets with a representative from one of the local PWI’s.

She makes it clear that she doesn’t want to merge, but he warns her the school will need to merge after Terrance’s family sues the university.

Eva ends the dinner early and leaves angrily.

While at the same restaurant and eating at another table, Cecil sees the rival band director, Clive Taylor, who stole the sheet music at the battle of the bands and caused his panic attack/medical scare.

He lounges at him and his sister holds him back and calms him down.

Clive informs Cecil that Noni gave him the music.

After Madison has a steamy night with her boyfriend, he tells her that he believes they should end their long distance relationship. Sydney consoles her and tells Madison that she will be just fine.

“He can got to hell.” – Sydney.

Coach meets with a player he has to cut due to bad grades, Junior. The player is upset but coach says that he has to let him go.

He calls a team meeting.

Sydney calls for revenge.

Sydney convinces Madison to get even and they locate her ex boyfriend’s car.

They vandalize his car with a bat and crowbar.

Not even his tires and windshield are safe.

Noni is confronted by Cecil.

Cecil tells her he’s been trying to figure out who stole his sheet music and gave it to his rival.

Noni says it was the drum major Danny.

Cecil accepts the answer even though he knows she’s lying. Noni leaves his office believing her secret is still safe.

Cedric gets a visit from an unwanted visitor.

It’s his girlfriend and Cedric’s roommate tells her he’s not there at Cedric’s request.

She hears them talking after she leaves and there’s another knock on the door.

A group of hooded men in masks are at the door and Cedric’s roommate says he has to go.

Eva visits her former boy toy, Jason King, at his place.

He’s cold towards her and doesn’t entertain her attempts at small talk.

She apologizes for hurting him and turning down his marriage proposal.

“I feel kind of stupid but I get it…we’re both moving on.” – Jason

He tells her he’s going back home to Connecticut after the semester ends and he will finish a graduate program there. He kicks her out.

Dr. Fletcher and Cecil talk about his run in with the rival band director, Clive Taylor.

She tells him he behaved like a ten year old school girl, but Cecil says it was warranted because Clive stole his music and ruined the band’s performance.

Eva tells Cecil to get it together and remain a professional in public places.

Jason runs into Sydney on the yard. They have some small talk and he tells her he will call her when he gets a chance.

She’s okay with this.

Coach Hardwick has a meeting with the team.

He asks all the players if they knew about Terrance assaulting students. No one speaks up and he then asks why no one knew Junior was failing his classes.

He tells the team to do better and communicate with one another.

Sydney has a party for Maddie in their dorm room.

They toast to Maddie now being a single woman.

Cedric comes by the party to talk to his girlfriend.

She’s not interested in talking to him but goes somewhere quiet to hear him out.

“You really letting these bitter betties get in your head?” – Cedric

She tells him that she knows his roommate lied to her when she came by and he was actually home. She’s upset that he avoided her and didn’t want to see her.

Cedric gets frustrated and walks away.

Sydney gets her closure from an unexpected source.

Sydney and Eva have a chat on the yard. Eva says she wishes Sydney would stay in therapy because Terrence’s family wants an apology.

“Will your apology make this go away?” – Sydney

Sydney tells Eva to do it so they can both move on.

Eva listens and hugs her.

Cecil prepares the band for another competition.

He lectures the band and reminds them that they must be a family to win.

He calls out Noni and says she knows what she did and she must get out now.

He snatches her saxophone and stuffs it in her case in front of the whole band.

She gets embarrassed and runs out in tears.

Eva makes the apology.

She says that Terrence was still one of them and she’s sorry his life ended the way it did. She then encourages students to get help if they are considering suicide.

She invites them to come to her office if they ever need to talk.
