Lawrence’s been up to plenty, including getting a disease.
The episode opens with Issa running into Lawrence in a 7-11 outside of Coachella. Both are cordial towards one another. Issa asks Lawrence what he’s been up to.
To answer the question, a montage ensues of Lawrence meeting many women. He sleeps with most of these women on his couch, reminiscent of his relationship with Issa.
A downside of all of the conquests for Lawrence is an unwanted visitor. After sleeping with a woman he met at a bar as Chad vented about his wife leaving him, he ended up in a doctor’s office.
Lawrence received antibiotic medication for an apparent s*xually transmitted disease.
But Lawrence doesn’t tells Issa all of this. He just tells her he’s been good.
Issa’s planning something big.
Afterwards, Issa ended up at a bank. She’s talking to a banker who’s giving her paperwork to fill out. Issa tells the banker she’s planning to throw a block party fundraiser for her neighborhood, and will invite artists to perform.
The banker advises her that the event may not pan out as Issa’s expecting.
This advice takes Issa aback as she heads out. Nathan’s there, being as supportive as he could be when Issa reveals nervousness of planning the block party.
“This is a lot. Maybe I bit off more than I could chew.” – Issa
She tells Nathan she can’t plan this on her own, and he stands by her side. He tells her that she can do this. Nathan feel Issa just needs to take it one step at a time.
Lastly, Nathan reminds Issa that Andrew still has Molly’s jacket.
Speaking of Molly, she’s at work when she gets a text from Issa about Andrew and the jacket. Molly’s embarrassed over how she acted at Coachella in front of Andrew.
Karen comes in with Molly’s baby shower gifts. Molly thanks her for getting them. Karen then brings up how she loves baby showers and how a baby with her boyfriend would look.
When Karen leaves, Molly speaks under her breath.
“Ain’t nobody ask you about your man.” – Molly
Molly and Nathan’s relationship grows.
Later on, Issa and Nathan are lounging in bed. Issa’s talking about the event details but Nathan’s focused on their relationship.
“I was jus thinking… How do you know when it’s real?” – Nathan
Issa’s taken aback by this question but seems to open up to him.
“I mean, it feels pretty real to me.” – Issa
“Yeah. It does. I really like you.” – Nathan
They then kiss.
Lawrence makes the call of shame.
At home, Lawrence is quite nervous. He coaches himself into making a phone call that he’s regretting ever having to make. He has to call everyone he’s slept with recently to tell them he has Chl*ymidia.
“Sorry to call you like this…” – Lawrence
He ends up calling one woman that he thought he slept with, however, that isn’t the case.
“We didn’t sleep together. Wow, you can’teven keep track of who you been f***ing.” – Woman on the phone.
She then hangs up in his face.
Meanwhile, Issa’s struggling to clean up dog poop on the breezeway. Mr. Robinson appears and Issa asks him to keep his dog from pooping and not cleaning up after him.
He tells Issa he doesn’t have a dog, as the dog begins to bark from his window. Afterwards, she gets a call from Lyft. Nathan’s Party Left assault’s being investigated. She sends him a text about it, but he doesn’t respond.
Molly gets asked out.
Outside of her job, Molly meets Andrew and receives her jacket. Andrew, feeling bold, asks Molly out to eat. Molly appears not to take to his advances, and tells him she’s busy at work.
Later that night, Molly vents to the girls about Andrew asking her out. Andrew is Asian. She tells them that she wants to date and marry a black man. However, Issa and everyone else lets her know that perhaps she shouldn’t be picky about her dating pool.
“You are so single, a tumbleweed rolled out your p****.” – Kelli
Despite this, Molly doesn’t seem like she’s ready to open up that way.
“It’s a shame to be all closed-minded and ignorant.” – Issa
Next, Issa tells everyone about the event she’s planning and her program’s name; Musiqal, Inc. The q stands for, “We put together events quickly.”
Everyone hates on the name and she texts Nathan he was right.
“So you were right… I need to come up with a new name.” – Issa
Kelli points out the diaper cake Molly made is crooked and she’s going to make cupcakes that say, “congratulations on your light-skinned baby.”
The cake will have light layers with chocolate bits to remind them that they’re “still a n****.”
Lawrence contemplates his life with Chad.
Chad’s with Lawrence at a bar talking about the calls Lawrence made earlier. Lawrence’s embarrassed and begins to contemplate his life.
“There’s gotta be more to my life than just going to work and f***ing.” – Lawrence
Chad uses the moment to remind himself and Lawrence that they’re good, despite their circumstances. Earlier in the episode, during Lawrence’s montage, Chad was in a very uncompromising position with dancers.
His fiancee found about it via social media and now they’re no longer together. Chad does his best to play off his hurt. Derek comes by and they congratulate him about becoming a father. He and Tiffany are proud to become parents.
He then asks Lawrence if he would take Issa back. Lawrence says he can’t see past her cheating. But, when Chad calls her a ho, Lawrence defends Issa’s honor.
“She not a ho. She just did ho s***.” – Lawrence
Not to be out done, Chad tells Derek that Lawrence has Chl*mydia. Lawrence tells Chad he no longer has it, but Chad sticks it to him again.
“It’s part of your story now.” – Chad
Issa and Molly meet Tiffany’s “Crazy Crew.”
It’s time for Tiffany’s baby shower and Issa and Molly arrive early to help set up. At least, they think they arrived early. When they walk in, they see the home already decorated.
Issa’s brother Ahmal is already there and runs into Issa and Molly. He tells them they’re late, despite believing they arrived early. Tiffany’s other friend Blair walks over and introduces herself as part of Tiffany’s planning committee, the “Crazy Crew.”
Molly points out they barely recognize anyone who’s already there.
Tiffany sees them and walks over. She tells them her Crazy Crew showed up early to make sure everything is running smoothly. Molly says they still can help, and Tiffany says they can help her sister Ashley set up chairs outside.
Lawrence comes in with gifts and sees portraits painted of Tiffany as celebs posing in their iconic pregnancy moments. This includes, Beyoncé, Cardi B, and Serena Williams.
Derek takes the gifts from Lawrence and introduces him to Kim and Nimani. He also points out that the guys at their co-ed baby shower are disappointed at being there.
Lawrence then sees Issa and tries to head towards her but Dre runs into him asking for Kush.
Dro’s cold to Molly.
Later on, Issa expresses frustration that Nathan hasn’t hit her up in a few days. Molly tries to call him from her phone, but his voicemail isn’t set up. Her mood changes when Issa points out Dro.
Issa than leaves Molly behind to say hey to Lawrence. They are cordial to one another and he brings up Frieda having a moment in Target, and Issa says she quit We Got Y’all.
He congratulates her on making a big move in her life and Issa asks if he knows anyone that can help her throw the block party.
Issa gets freaked out when she sees chocolate in a diaper that looks like poop.
Overall, their conversation goes well and when they meet up with their friends, they have nothing but positive things to say about one another.
Molly runs in to Dre and she tries to make small talk. However, Dro gets shady.
“Are we talking now? It’s cool? I mean, no boundaries and all, right?” – Dre
“Thank you for the reminder that this s*** was a waste of time.” – Molly
“Yep.” – Dro
Kelli and Tiffany lay out their feelings.
Later, Kelli’s having a moment with the Crazy Crew and Tiffany over her light-skinned cupcakes. Molly walks over and sees Kelli arguing with them over the cupcakes’ placement.
Ahmal overhears it and throws his shade, and Kelli gets more snippy towards him than usual.
“Issa told me you can’t read.” – Kelli
Molly does her best to diffuse Kelli until Blair walks over and calls them backup cupcakes. Kelli walks out angrily with Issa and Molly right behind.
“Just let me go. Tiffany won’t even notice me when I’m gone.” – Kelli
An angry Kelli expresses sadness over her friendship with Tiffany changing. Kelli feels that this baby drove a wedge between their friendship and there’s nothing she could do about it.
“Why does that baby hate me?” – Kelli
When Tiffany comes outside, they all ask why they weren’t on their planning committee. Tiffany claps back that none of them offered to plan the baby shower.
Issa and Molly try to explain they had some life-changing things going on.
“I’m having a baby. We all have some life s*** going on.” – Tiffany
Issa pleads that Tiffany wasn’t going to allow them to plan it if they asked. Tiffany agreed but wanted them to make the time to offer. Kelli steps in and says she asked and was told that Tiffany, “ had it handled.”
Tiffany says Blair asked to do it and she agreed because she is a mother. This saddened Kelli.
“So because I don’t have a baby, I couldn’t do that for you?” – Kelli
Tiffany gets mum with words and Kelli begins to shed a tear.
Molly learns Candace’s pregnant.
After their conversation, Kelli’s sitting outside, Tiffany’s with Derek and the Crazy Crew taking pictures, and Issa brings Molly over a champagne flute. Issa asks Molly if she wants kids after this, and Molly brings up how she’s not even dating.
Issa then tells Molly she’s over Lawrence.
She then sends out a red alert when Candace walks in. The small talk goes on and Molly does her best to play it cool.
Afterwards, Molly texts Andrew, asking if his schedule is still open.
Lawrence runs into Derek as he leaves and he tells him he’s glad he saw Issa. He feels like Issa has changed. This is impressing.
Finally, Issa and Molly tell Tiffany Kelli left as they’re washing dishes. Although they play it off, Tiffany knows their earlier confrontation has Kelli feeling some kind of way.
Molly gets taken aback herself when Tiffany tells them Candace is pregnant.
The episode ends when Issa gets a call from Lyft about Nathan reaching out, giving them a statement. She then looks at their past text conversation, wondering why he hasn’t responded in days.
