Donna explains her altercation with Krystal.

The day after the disastrous Team Bonding event, Cease returns to the shop. And it’s a mess. He immediately asks Puma what happened. Not too long after, Tati walks in with Donna and Kitty. The gang teases Puma for thinking everyone was going to get along. Donna then begins to tell her version of what happened. She admits she did smack Krystal for getting in her face. As for Tati, her mind is only on her upcoming appearance in court.

Since she’s trying to pay unpaid taxes, Donna decides to become a Lyft/Uber driver for extra cash. She picks up a customer with her dog in the car and this annoys the customer. After he leaves the vehicle, Donna picks up a customer who wants to eat in her car. So she kicks them out. In a green screen interview, Donna says maybe being a driver wasn’t the best idea. So she calls up Walt and he tells her to pick him up to aid her in her attempt at driving. They pick up a woman and Walt starts making jokes in hopes that Donna will do good in tips. The customers seem to take to Walt’s personality and the tips do start to roll in.

After they have a little break, Walt tells Donna he has an open mic event coming up. He wants Donna to come out and support. He’s really excited about it. And Donna is curious herself.

Tati goes to court.

Teddy and Kitty go with Tati to court. She’s nervous and was told that she may have to go back to jail by her lawyer. So Tati is unsure about what is in her future. But she’s glad to have the support from her friends. The judge decides to keep her case open and push it back a few weeks. Teddy hugs Tati as she continues to worry.

London returns to the shop. She asks if it’s normal for the new girls to feel like they have a target on their backs. Donna says yes and she also went through it. But she wasn’t really trying to come for London the previous night. So everyone decides to squash it. Kitty then says that she’s going to Memphis soon to spread her mother’s ashes. Cease says they should make it was group trip. Donna decides to stay behind so she can make some extra money. Cease also wants to look into opening a new shop there. Kitty wants to put her mother first and business last.

The gang arrives to Memphis. Turns out Cease rented a really nice house. Of course, they don’t waste time claiming ownership of the rooms they want. Not too long after, they all have dinner. Teddy upsets Tati when he says that he’s sleeping in the same room with London. Kitty doesn’t want any drama and wants to focus on spreading her mother’s ashes before they do anything else. But London asks if they are going to look into opening a new shop later that day. Kitty reminds her that will happen later.

Krystal wants to talk to Donna.

Back at the shop, Krystal returns. She’s looking for Donna but finds out Donna isn’t there. She wants to talk about what happened at the bonding event. She never had a problem with Donna before and wants to hash things out. So Walt tells her Donna will be at his open mic event and to come out then. But he tells her he doesn’t want them to have another altercation. So Krystal remains at the shop and then tattoos two roses on a customer who walks in. In a green screen interview, Krystal says London hasn’t even checked up on her after everything happened.

In Memphis, the gang goes to the motel Dr. Martin Luther King was murdered, the Lorraine Motel. This was one of her mother’s favorite places because it was spiritual for her. Teddy gets emotional as he walks through the motel and civil rights center. London reveals she’s a product of an interracial couple. So this is emotional for her.

Things get even more real when they get to the room MLK slept in, as well as the balcony he stood on when he was shot. For Kitty, all of this is a reminder of everything black people have gone through. And she knows there is still more progress to be made. Later on, the group goes out to eat. Kitty gets upset after London once again asks when they can go look at opening a potential shop. London says she’s just there to work and Kitty tells London she can leave if she’s not going to allow her to put her mother first. Angry with London’s actions, Kitty decides to step outside and cool off before she gets violent. Tati goes outside to check on Kitty.

Kitty says that she understands London just wants to make a good impression as her assistant. But she needs everyone to respect her mother’s passing. Teddy and London flirt inside the restaurant. The others get annoyed and leave them there alone to flirt by themselves. They end up kissing.

Krystal and Donna hash things out.

It’s open mic night for Walt. He’s happy to have the support of the crew. Plus, his girlfriend is there and she’s on good terms with Donna now that they talked. When Walt gets on the stage, he struggles at first. But things get better as he continues. Not too long after, Krystal asks Donna to go outside and talk. Krystal apologizes and says that she shouldn’t have gotten in Donna’s face. But Donna says she wasn’t bullying London. And Krystal should have let London stand up for herself. Regardless, both women agree to move on.

Cease and Kitty go to the old neighborhood her mother grew up in. But when they pull up in the neighborhood, the house is no longer there. It’s just grass. This makes Kitty breaks down in tears as she feels like she’s lost everything. And she only feels worse after her father calls her to inform her that he’s not coming to Memphis. He just can’t handle it emotionally. As Kitty cries, Cease consoles her.
