Grace goes off on Charity.
Charity gets an ear full from Grace to begin the episode. Grace digs into Charity for calling Noah, telling Charity Isabel is now divorcing Noah because of it. However, Charity doesn’t seem phased by Grace’s anger. The next morning, Jacob prays, asking to be used by God. But this doesn’t stop Kerissa and Mae from clashing over the land they sold. This clash occurred when Kerissa asked Mae if they could keep the furniture in their suite.
Meanwhile, Karine and James are working on uploading his old sermons online as he intends on guest preaching for his friend in Atlanta. Charity heads to Calvary regretting being the reason why Isabel and Noah are divorcing. AJ also decides to stop by the church which scares Grace. Although she gives him money, Phil interrupts and sees Grace talking to AJ.
While setting up for Sunday school, Dante’s girlfriend calls Zora and invites her to a day party. So Zora seemingly stops what she’s doing.
AJ’s meeting with Aaron doesn’t go well.
Back at the church, Grace asks Aaron about getting a 20-something a job and Aaron asks to meet the kid. Speaking of the kid, Phil asks Charity to find out about AJ but Charity is ready to give up being Phil’s mole. She tells Phil if something doesn’t want to be seen, she’s not going to bring it out to the open.
James goes to Mae, doing his best to convince Mae to allow Jacob and Kerissa to keep the furniture. Mae asks for James not to go to Atlanta if they take the furniture. James backs down from this request. When James backs away, Mae receives an email that’s titled, “An offer you can’t refuse.”
Later on, AJ meets with Aaron at his office. AJ’s nervous talking to Aaron, only opening up when he calls the world fake, including Grace. But Aaron calls Grace special and this seemingly irritates AJ. Zora skipped out of Sunday school to meet up with Dante and his girlfriend.
Charity learns a secret about Bob and Phil.
Phil also invites Charity out to dinner after she stands up to him and she seemingly accepts. Meanwhile, Bob invited Mae to speak at an upcoming event in Washington DC. She tells James she declined the invitation because she had unfinished business at home in the hope to convince James not to go to Atlanta. However, James says he wants to feel wanted by a congregation. Mae brings up Mavis and Rochelle in an attempt to guilt-trip James but James threw Lionel right back in his face.
Grace and Jacob are speaking to the church’s board when Zora calls Jacob. Jacob ignores the call but Zora’s persistence pays off and Zora shows Dante drunk and waving a confederate flag. After the meeting, Aaron calls Grace to tell her AJ left in the middle of the meeting. Jacob arrives at the party just before Dante attempts to burn a confederate flag. His white teammates also arrive which causes a fight to erupt in front of dozens of cell phone cameras. Meanwhile, Grace stops by AJ’s to find out what exactly happened with him and Aaron.
Charity’s on her dinner date with Phil and she learns Phil is Bob’s ghostwriter. Phil also tells Charity that Calvary is the only chance he will have to lead a church, telling Charity that Bob promised him this position.
AJ’s threat forces Grace to open up about AJ to Mae.
AJ’s angry and drunk as he’s opening up to Grace about hearing all of the positive things about Grace. That tore at his soul because he doesn’t trust her. In fact, he tells Grace that their arrangement can’t work anymore and threatens to tell the truth to the next person that asks who he is.
Lastly, James is at home watching his sermons when Mae and Kerissa clash. Mae feels Kerissa is breaking their family apart and Kerissa feels Mae hurt her, unlike anyone she ever knew. It hurt Kerissa to know Mae never liked her and blames Mae for everything. Out of anger, Mae slaps Kerissa and this causes a scuffle. They both put on a front when James shows up. He’s changing his mind about going to Atlanta. He says God pointed him to Mae’s advice and he should’ve listened in the first place. This and her scuffle with Kerissa brings Mae to tears.
Charity’s in her room reading Bob’s book with the knowledge that Phil wrote it. Jacob also returned home after his eventful day with Dante where he got fired by the Memphis Red Devils.
The next day, Grace finally tells Mae about AJ.
