Grace finds Darius.

Darius was arrested for resisting arrest and driving around high on PCP. Grace bails him out. And it’s clear that this was just a way to stop Darius from investigating Bob Whitmore. However, he’s still hot on his trail. Meanwhile, Grace is looking to file an injunction in court to stop Bob from tearing down Calvary, for a few days at least.

A cheerful James brought Mae breakfast in bed. But instead of food, he presents Mae with another wedding ring. It’s the ring he proposed with the first time. Mae uses this moment to get James to think about a new plan of offering Tara something else. However, James stands firm that he didn’t do anything wrong and he doesn’t want to offer Tara, or Rochelle, anything. Mae’s move angers James.

Meanwhile, Zora finds Jacob in the room to remind him about her flight to New York. Jacob tells Zora to be patient and cancel the flight.

AJ arrives at the house. James forgot that AJ was coming over for the car. But James is happy to see him and tells AJ he’ll meet with him in thirty minutes.

Grace stops the demolition.

At the church, Aaron and Grace present Fernando, Judee, and Phil with an injunction stopping the construction. Grace tells them Jacob is ready to testify that Fernando didn’t disclose to Jacob or Kerissa that his company is a subsidiary of Harmony and Hope. But Fernando taunts Grace, saying not only Kerissa knew but he implies that he and Kerissa had an affair.

After Grace gets off the phone with Jacob to tell him what happened, Noah stops by the church to tell Grace he found the caretaker of Mrs. Davis’ estate. Meanwhile, Mae presents Tara her offer for the land. But Rochelle wants to humiliate James. As a result, neither Mae nor Tara can come to an agreement.

After his call with Grace, Jacob calls Kerissa to ask about the sale of their land and if Fernando told her about his H&H connection. Kerissa reluctantly admits so it.

Next, James meets AJ at the shed, and AJ is overwhelmed about the car. AJ also seemingly wants to be saved. James notices and gives AJ advice about it; he lets AJ know that there “is a God” and that God sees him.

Daryl is Mrs. Davis’ son.

Grace and Noah eventually make it to the house of Mrs. Davis’ caretaker, Otis. Apparently Otis overheard constant arguing between the two and revealed that Daryl was Mrs. Davis’ son.

Mae, Charity, and James are watching the news and they hear that Bob Whitmore wants to announce his campaign for Senate. James scoffs at this as Grace walks in. She tells James and Mae that Daryl was Mrs. Davis’ son. Grace also tells Mae to call Rochelle and Tara and have them come over immediately. Meanwhile, Zora’s trying to convince Sophia to come with her to New York.

When Rochelle and Tara arrive, Mae tells them about Daryl. If they can prove this, James and Mae are ready to give Rochelle and Tara the house. But this doesn’t please Rochelle. All she wants is the truth. Meanwhile, Jacob tells everyone that Charity told everyone about Bob’s underhanded dealings. As a result, the church’s board is calling an emergency meeting and they want James at Calvary immediately.

It’s at this point, James is ready to reveal everything and he tells Rochelle to show up if she wants the truth.

James explains everything to the congregation.

The family and Darius quickly make it to the church. He was able to find a link between a family that had their home taken for missing a payment to Eden Vale. In fact, CBS wants to run a segment on it and Yusef will corroborate this. Meanwhile, Bob is explaining this to the congregating and facing tough questions, including asking who Phil’s mother was to him in the business. The board gets uncomfortable about this as Phil steps up to speak about his mom. He says before she died, she felt concerned that God wouldn’t forgive her. He then demands Judee to give him his mother’s ring back.

Bob tried to win back the room by saying James took advantage of the congregation. At this point James walks in and admits to this, apologizing to it. James explains to everyone that the only reason why this church even exists is that Mrs. Davis gifted him the house. As a result, he was able to use the house as collateral for a loan to build the church. He then explains how Mac set everything up, including the murder of Daryl. But he didn’t find out any of this until recently. Mac was also the one who told James to talk to a childless Mrs. Davis and convince her to put him in her will. Rochelle is there listening.

Bob’s plans fail.

James then repents to other sins and explains how he lost his way in Christ. He also takes blame for the church falling into H&H’s grips. As he speaks, the congregation stands and forces Bob, Fernando, and Judee out the church, seemingly saving the church. As this happens, everyone begins to sing Amazing Grace as the Greenleafs come together to console James.

Rochelle walks out also with Grace in tow. Grace stops her and asks if she’s happy now. Rochelle tells her she got what she wanted. Grace also tells Rochelle that she knows she found AJ and put him in contact with Grace for revenge. But it ended up being a blessing anyway. Meanwhile, Phil chases down Charity to apologize and asks if she wants to talk. He says she didn’t deserve any of what she received from him. Charity tells Phil that she could never trust him again and walks away.

James seemingly passes away.

Back at the house, CBS producers tell Darius that Bob Whitmore is stepping down from H&H. He tells Grace about the news and Grace thanks Darius for everything he did. They then exchange a kiss.

Meanwhile, Zora’s seemingly packing for her flight to New York. Eventually, Grace makes it upstairs to talk to Sophia. She apologizes to Grace about the photos she sent to Dante. But Grace didn’t know about them. This confuses Sophia.

In their bedroom, a happy Mae is ready to marry James. But things take a dire turn when James is having a medical emergency their room. He appears to be having a stroke. He can’t speak. So he motions to Mae for a pen. Mae calls 911 in a panic and then hands James a pen. He writes “I Do” in his bible and then falls to the bed, seemingly dying in Mae’s arms.
