Yandy Smith doesn’t regret not being legally married.
“Love And Hip Hop Atlanta” couple Mendeecees Harris and Yandy Smith got married on a wedding special years ago. It was a major moment for them. So fans were shocked when they learned that the marriage wasn’t legal. In fact, Yandy decided to not turn in the paperwork because she didn’t want to get tied up in Mendeecees’ debt. For her, it was too risky to be legally married to a man who owed restitution fees and child support. It was about Yandy protecting herself financially.
Although some of Yandy’s strongest supporters understood her reasoning, others felt like it was a fraudulent thing to do. And Yandy’s former friend Kimbella Vanderhee said that the move just showed that Yandy is an inauthentic person who does things for television. Yandy worried about the backlash at one point, but she has no regrets about her decision.
Now that Mendeecees is out of prison, the couple has decided to renew their vows in Dubai. However, Mendeecees’ mother Judy Harris is questioning if they plan on being legally married this time around. She made her feelings known to Momma Dee and Momma Dee went back and relayed Judy’s comments to Mendeecees and Yandy.
