‘Raising Kanan’ Recap: Problems Worsen for Lou Lou + Raq Continues to Plot

Nicole’s father appreciates Jukebox.

Jukebox visits Nicole’s grave. Not too long after she gets there, Nicole’s father pulls up. He reveals he and Nicole’s mother are divorcing. They see the world differently. And Nicole’s death was inevitable because their toxic marriage stressed her out. So he’s happy that Jukebox made Nicole so happy. Before he leaves, he tells Jukebox to call him if she ever needs anything. 

Lou Lou is in the middle of hooking up with Zisa at the studio when two armed men bust in. It is said that Crown owes money. And he put up the studio as collateral. So if Lou doesn’t pay up, the studio will be taken from him. 

Marvin meets with Boselli’s son Marco. And he asks him to handle a rat for him since the area the man is in has a low black population. Marco says he needs time to think about it.

Marvin warns Jukebox about Kenya.

Raq notices the tension between Cartier and one of his workers. She reminds him that he told her he doesn’t tolerate insubordination. 

Kanan goes back to his girlfriend Corrine’s house to return the gun her mother gave him. Corrine isn’t there so her mother lets him in. She starts kissing him. After he says they shouldn’t do this because she’s Corrine’s mother. But she doesn’t see it that way. She says she can do as she pleases.

Jukebox attends bible study with Kenya. She starts to feel uncomfortable after the pastor says being gay is a sin. She later gives her phone number to a boy while Kenya smiles from a distance. They later kiss during their first time hanging out.

Marvin has questions as he watches Lou take some cash from the business. He runs into Jukebox while looking for Raq. Marvin questions when she was going to tell him she was talking to Kenya. He tells Juke that Kenya left them but he’s the one who never abandoned Juke. And Kenya will hurt her because she’s selfish.

It’s a new chapter for Symphony. 

Raq runs into Cartier’s worker who now has a fresh black eye. And she tells him he should leave Cartier and work for her.

Kanan and Symphony catch up. Symphony reveals he is moving to North Carolina for a new job. While they are hugging each other goodbye, Burke watches in a car from a distance. She begins following Symphony. When he is pulled over, Burke asks him multiple questions about Kanan. Symphony isn’t comfortable so Burke backs off.

Marco pulls up on Unique and Worrell. He asks them if Marvin can be trusted to work with and both say he’s legit.

Lou is jumped by the organization Crown owed. 

Marvin graduates from anger management. Renee gives him her phone number to keep in touch. 

Symphony stops by Raq’s house to say goodbye. He also tells her about Burke and all the questions she asked about Kanan. 

Things don’t work out for Marco.

Corrine walks in on Kanan and her mother in bed together. She becomes upset and storms off. Corrine’s mother feels nothing and puts her focus back on Kanan.

Lou asks Cartier to help him deal with Crown’s debt. Cartier agrees and he says he wants half of Crown’s ownership of the studio. Lou agrees to this.

Marco and another one of Boselli’s men are en route to do the job Marvin paid for. Since this is the first job Marco has done outside of the family business, he doesn’t want his dad to know about it. Turns out Marvin paid them to kill Toni and her boyfriend. After Toni is killed, Marco is accidentally shot dead by his associate. Toni’s boyfriend survives. 

Symphony gets lucky. 

Raq tells Howard that Burke went to Symphony with questions about Kanan. But he doesn’t think they need to worry about Burke. He also tells Raq he was wrong about Scrappy. He actually wasn’t a snitch. 

While Juke is dropping off the karaoke tape she and Nicole made at Nicole’s father’s house, she sees Howard approaching. Apparently, he’s there to ask Nicole’s father questions about Burke. 

As Symphony is packing his things into his car for North Carolina, Raq creeps up in her car to shoot him. But she doesn’t go through with it.
