However, Sam’s father beat Sam and threatened to cut his inheritance if he left with Betty for California. Aunt Vi explains how Sam wants to destroy Ernest’s farm and her land and marriage to Sam is the only way they can stop it.

Micah talks to Ralph Angel about Chase.

Meanwhile, Micah’s getting ready to meet with another NFT dealer. But before he leaves, Ralph Angel opens up about Chase. He feels his run-in with Chase ruined his happiness. Micah’s a listening ear and does his best to convince Ralph Angel to let go of his feelings.

Later that night, Nova and Billie talk about the argument Nova had with Dominic. Nova explains they talked it over and he apologized. She promised to open up more to him. Next, Nova’s surprised to hear Billie proposed to Vince. Nova offers to officiate a reunification ceremony. Billie graciously accepts.

Ralph Angel gets help from the USDA.

The next day, Ralph Angel is nervous as he has to speak to the USDA for a hearing on the plight of Black Famers. Darla lets him know he’s the best person to talk to about this plight. When Ralph Angel brings up Chase, Darla tells him to let it go. This leads to Ralph Angel getting frustrated as they talk about Chase being in the same city as Blue.

They regain their composure as they head to the USDA hearing with Billie and Prosper. Before they walk in, Prosper tells Ralph Angel that Ernest would be proud of him.

Back in California, Betty and Aunt Vi talk about Parker; her daughter with Sam. Betty reveals Parker’s real name is Imani. However, Sam convinced her to change her name. During the conversation, Betty’s convinced to head to St Joe as a plea to get her daughter back.

During the hearing, Ralph Angel talks about the co-op and explains how the Banks in St. Joe discriminated against Black farmers. The hearing panel brings up Ralph Angel’s time in prison during a time a federal settlement was paid out. However, this didn’t sway Ralph Angel. The white people tried to end the discussion. However, the Black woman on the panel promises to investigate the claims and asks for more information on the loan officer accused of denying the Black farmer’s loans.

Nova learns her aunt passed away.

Micah is in New York and meets Rae. Rae’s a fund manager who his grandmother linked him with. She’s a Black woman and Micah’s impressed by her credentials. Nova heads inside her home and is filled with emotion regarding the passing of her aunt. She sheds tears when she finds her aunt’s journal which is full of stories and items.

Betty ruins Sam’s plan.

Meanwhile, Parker questions Sam’s plans. However, Sam ensures their issues will end with the city council vote. They then head to a meeting to speak with their board.

Prosper and other farmers are at the board meeting and he brings in Aunt Vi and Betty. Parker’s shocked to see Betty walk in. Betty openly says she’s miserable and can’t let her complete the sale.

She then tells the board that she owns land that Sam is trying to sell.

After the meeting, Betty then shows paperwork that includes her marriage license that shows she owns the land. Parker reveals she only cares about the money and Betty pleads with her to stop all of this. She walks off when Betty calls her Imani.

Billie gives Parker an ear.

Later on, Billie and Nova are in a bar and Nova vents about her time at her aunt’s home. Parker walks in and they see her walk to the bar. Billie wants to empathize with Parker and goes over to the bar to talk. Nova looks on with a scowl as they talk.

Billie knows why Parker and Betty left St. Joe. She tells Parker to ask Betty why she left.

Meanwhile, Ralph Angel heads home and they nervously talk about Chase. Ralph Angel suggests they tell Blue about Chase. Right now, Darla pleads to not tell him yet. She feels Blue is too young. But Ralph Angel emphasizes with Blue not knowing about his biological father.

Parker shows up and apologizes to everyone.

At the diner before dinner, Aunt Vi gives Betty a pep talk about Parker when Sam walks in with an envelope. He’s giving Betty the land outright as he can’t afford to have their relationship and the botched sale of the land go public.

Sam asks what would’ve been different if he left for California with Betty. Betty responds by calling him a coward for “taking the easy way out,” regarding his father.

Aunt Vi and Betty head to dinner and greet Ralph Angel. They talk about Ernest and Betty presents Ralph Angel with the deed to the land Sam stole. Ralph Angel calls this a blessing.

The episode ends with Prosper joining in for dinner and everyone reminiscing. Parker shows up with Billie and Nova apologizing.
