Hollywood and his family celebrate his election win.

The Series Finale begins with the Bordelon family having a good time at the casino. The night ended well for everyone as everyone returns home. In the morning, Nova wakes up with Calvin beside her. She called Calvin, asking him to come over when she returned from the casino.

When Calvin wakes up, Nova asks Calvin to leave as she has to head to her Aunt Martha’s. After a brief chat, Nova tells him he has twenty minutes to leave.

Meanwhile, Hollywood and Prosper are heading to a distillery. They’re both hopeful the Co-Op will win the land.

Blue learns about his biological father.

Ralph Angel is with Blue and True as he drops Darla off at the salon. Blue tells Ralph Angel he doesn’t fit in at his school in DC. He tells Ralph Angel the kids don’t understand him. This conversation leads to Ralph Angel telling Blue about his biological father.

Blue’s surprisingly understanding of this and how Ralph Angel wants to be his father. He uses this to remind Blue that he belongs at the school.

Later on, Micah stops by the diner. Micah was supposed to be in California with Charley for Election Day. However, due to their disagreement during the last episode, he’s not going. Aunt Vi demands he goes. But Micah puts his foot down, demanding respect.

Before Aunt Vi walks off, she rhetorically asks Micah if his behavior is how he believes “grown men act.”

Hollywood and Prosper meet with Jacob Boudreaux.

When Hollywood and Prosper arrive at the distillery, they run into Sam Landry’s nephew.

After the conversation, Blue, Darla, and Ralph Angel stop at a gas station, when Ralph Angel heads in, Darla suspects Ralph Angel told Blue about Chase.

Back at the distillery, Hollywood and Prosper learn from Jacob Boudreaux that he’s no longer dealing with the Landrys, despite his name appearing on the auction roll. They seemingly take Jacob’s word.

Meanwhile, the company partnering with Aunt Vi put up a Tik Tok promotion for her pies. This caused a spike in customers which is overwhelming her. This surprisingly brought back Remy Newell.

Calvin and Nova have a disagreement.

Later that night, Calvin returned to Nova’s house and they were watching a news report about Charley’s election. Charley’s winning her House Race in California so far. The conversation turns to Calvin’s relationship with Nova. Nova says she isn’t ready to take things seriously with him.

This answer frustrates Calvin as he’s no longer a cop and is divorced. So, Calvin promptly leaves.

Meanwhile, Darla’s almost in tears when Ralph Angel joins her outside. She confronts Ralph Angel about what he told Blue. Ralph Angel stays calm and he explains his side of the story. But this doesn’t go well as Darla walks off “tired of it all.”

And unfortunately for Charley, she narrowly loses her election by two percentage points. Micah tries to call Charley, along with everyone else. But they get her voicemail.

Prosper gives Ralph Angel advice about Darla.

The next day, Remy meets with the co-op and Remy agrees to help buy land for the co-op at the auction. During this conversation, Billie says Darla had to go look after her mom in DC. Ralph Angel knows this isn’t the case.

He then meets with Prosper on his old farmland. Prosper knows something is wrong with Darla and Ralph Angel. Prosper uses this moment to tell Ralph Angel a story about him and Ernest.

A flashback ensues with Ernest on the farm during the harvest with Prosper. Ernest knew Ralph Angel had the potential to do big things with the farm if he ever got his head on straight. And the last thing Ernest wanted was for Ralph Angel to end up on the land alone.

Prosper uses the story to tell Ralph Angel to go after Darla.

Meanwhile, Micah apologizes to Aunt Vi for his actions the previous day. The Social Worker then stops by with great news. Vi and Hollywood are going to foster a child from Baton Rouge who lost her only caregiver.

Ralph Angel takes Prosper’s advice and travels to DC. He heads to Darla’s house. They have a heated discussion about what he did and Ralph Angel apologizes. He was adamant about not keeping secrets as Ernest did.

Darla reluctantly accepts his apology and hugs him.

The auction seemingly doesn’t go the Co-Op’s way.

Finally, it’s the day of the auction and Remy meets with the co-op at the men’s club. Nova’s there which leads to Remy and Nova catching up.

Nova wonders why she’s seeing many people from her past return to her life. Prosper’s presence and their conversation leads to him telling Billie and Nova how Ernest supported him during his wife’s funeral.

Ernest was a great friend of Prosper at that moment and gave Prosper advice about Billie.

The Co-Op makes it to the auction and they discuss their options with Sam Landry making handshake agreements in the background.

Bidding starts at $250,000 and everyone but Sam and Ralph Angel put their paddles down. Bidding gets intense as they go to $750,000 but Remy steps in to bid $800,000. Remy then steps in and bids $1 million.

But then Jacob Boudreaux comes in at the last minute and outbids everyone.

Later on, Calvin helps Nova pack up her aunt’s home as Aunt Vi and Hollywood prepared for their new family member Holly. Micah also made it to California and embraces Charley.

Nova inherits her aunt’s home and a bigger surprise.

Back at Aunt Martha’s, a guy named George stopped by with deeds for a church. This is a surprise as Nova didn’t know about this. As a result, Nova owns the house and church.

At Aunt Vi and Hollywood’s, they give their new daughter a tour of the house and she’s impressed with her room.

Meanwhile, Micah gives Charley an earful when she talks about the election. Micah tells Charley he’ll always be by her side.

When George leaves, Nova nervously takes the key and opens Trudy’s locked room. Inside is a well-kept space, untouched for years. Being inside the room, Nova’s filled with emotion. She realizes where she needs to be and who to be with; Calvin.

Nova opens up her heart to Calvin and the two kiss and embraces inside the room.

The Co-Op’s plan to get their land back works with Jacob’s help.

Meanwhile, Sam questions Jacob on how he purchased the land. He also wants to meet his partners. Jacob obliges; the members of the Co-Op. Jacob says he agreed to join them as a way to finally best Sam.

So all the farmers have their land back while Jacob owns the Landry land that will grow sugar cane for the distillery. Prosper will manage that land.

The plan was spun up by a call from Charley to Jacob.

Ernest is pleased with his family.

At the end of the episode, Ralph Angel tells Sam it’s finally over as they walk out of Sam’s residence.

And, as Nova enjoys a drink with Calvin, on their front porch, it’s revealed that she’s expecting a child. Ernest looks down on them and is pleased.

Ernest then checks in on Charley, Davis, and then Micah who’s working his new job in New York City.

Next, Ernest watches over Aunt Vi and Hollywood having a good time with their daughter.

Lastly, Blue and Ralph Angel Walk throw the sugar cane fields with Ernest smiling and pleased with their efforts.

  1. I have never been so satisfied with a series finale as I have been with Queen Sugar. While I hated to say goodbye to this show, it was beautiful to finally see everyone happy and especially satisfying to see Sam Landry defeated. The last scene with Ernest watching all of his children happy and thriving and then walking through the sugar cane field, laid me out! I am a hot mess ya’ll!

  2. This was by far the best show finale ever. I watched it twice and will watch it again. I was so happy for the family, and was touched by the father’s spirit visiting each of his children and grand children. This show had awesome actors/actresses. I will miss this show, but feel fulfilled with the ending. We need more shows like Queen Sugar.

  3. It was an amazing journey from beginning to end. I love how they played modern day into the story line. It kept the show in the now! The most fulfilling was the full circle of Darla! Her story was the most powerful! She really evolved and became a phenomenal woman! The finale was amazing! It was completed gracefully, and it really brought me to a standing ovation! Job well done!

  4. I absolutely loved this show, the final episode put the icing on the cake with splendid selection of music (The Storm is Over now) had me in tears…. I watched the ending about 3x AMAZING JOB!
