Kimmi Scott’s comments about Melody Shari’s decision to change her last name resulted in some criticism from LAMH fans.
“Love & Marriage: Huntsville” star Kimmi Scott has fans talking on social media about the latest episode. During a scene, Kimmi confronted Melody Shari about not inviting her to the name change ceremony. Melody planned an event to celebrate the fact that she dropped Holt and returned to her maiden name. Martell Holt told Nell Fletcher that this was a disrespectful thing to do. Nell angered Martell tremendously when she reminded him that she tried to warn him to get his act together before he lost his marriage. He didn’t listen. So he can’t dictate what Melody has as a last name. Interestingly enough, Kimmi shared a different perspective during the scene. She told Melody,
“As African Americans, I think a lot of times we’re thrown into a stereotypical cycle of I’m gonna assume that your kids don’t have your momma’s last name. And I think it’s tragic. That just like mattered to me.”
Melody reminded Kimmi that her son Jaylin Grant did not stop her from changing her last name to Scott.
“You and Jaylin technically don’t have the same last name anymore, right?”
She continued, “It’s a part of life, marriage, divorce…it’s just one of those things where it is what it is. My kids know what it is and what it was. So it don’t bother me at all.”
Kimmi Scott responded to the backlash on Instagram.
In a green screen interview, Melody hinted at Kimmi’s comments justifying why she didn’t receive an invite.
“Me choosing not to invite Tisha and Kimmi…I really wanted people there who have been very supportive in my growth and this new chapter of my life. And let’s just be honest, the past few years we haven’t been getting along. There are sometimes we’re getting along, sometimes we’re not. Sometimes we’re throwing shade, sometimes we’re not. That line clearly being there on if you’re for me or against me hasn’t been fully drawn. So I knew I wanted people who I know that without a shadow of a doubt are sincerely in my life with a genuine intent.”

Well, Kimmi had more to say about the scene and her comment on Instagram. She reposted the clip and wrote the following caption:
“Wow, this clip really got the gworls feeling a way…confused 😕 shout out to the graceful edit 🎬. Some think this conversation is related to moms and their children that they had and were not married (doesn’t really apply). However, the actual conversation (not shade, not dig), the conversation was in regards to moms who get divorced and weigh their options on keeping their married last name or not. A lot of that decision-making includes their professional advancements with that name… and their children. #next”
Whatever she wants to say and think, Melody did what would make her happy. As long as she and her children understand the situation ,what Kimmi thinks doesn’t matter.

Kimmie was throwing shade and was angry that those Scotts were not invited. Melody did the right thing.
Amen. Her Mother and immediate family seemed to be the majority. And, she might have had a few close heartfelt friends. All this was her prerogative. The event was tastefully done and fulfilled her mental need to step fully into her singleness. Excellent choice.

My Mom has been married 3 times and has carried each name until she married again.
Melody wanted complete freedom from Marty and she achieved it yet everyone won’t be happy for her. She doesn’t care. That’s why she handled Kimmi gracefully.

I believe Kimmi was going with Maurice when he was married to his other wife, and Kimmie tried really hard to cover it up, I think Kimmie is getting what she deserves, she is miserable and doesn’t want to see anyone else happy.

Kimmie’s “attempt” to throw shade is the exact reason she was not invited. Also she threw herself under with that nonsense of minorities stereo typed for kids and moms having different names. The stereotype is not due to names different because of divorce but said to be for never being married… but I guess that didn’t apply to her cuz her son had her last name…. yet throwing shade.hmmmm. At the end of the day Mel is the best business mind on the show. Martel asked for 50% of all things Holt. I think Mel is preparing to get back out there fully in the business world. Just wait and see. As for Martel i don’t understand why he is offended. Arionne Curry does not have his last name. He is a narcissist wanting to control Mel even in divorce. He is struggling because Mel was clearly the brains behind their business. In the beginning the Holts were the most successful couple on the show. Go get em Mel!!
Kimmie you are not in a position to choose sides against Tisha. Tisha and Mel are not friends. Therefore you cannot be a part of Mel’s inner circle. Continue to focus on your recovery and your marriage. And pray for a new storyline. The most boring couple has just left the show. You now have the title.
