Here’s the recap for *“Mother-in-Law and Order.”*
Lateshia questions Glen about meeting with an attorney.
Lateshia was caught off guard after Selena told her that Glen had allegedly talked about getting a divorce and meeting with a divorce attorney. The information immediately raised concerns. Therefore, Lateshia wasted no time confronting Glen about it.
When she asked him directly if he had seen a divorce attorney without telling her, Glen denied that was the reason for the meeting. Instead, he explained that he met with an attorney to obtain more information about a postnuptial agreement and how assets would be handled. He also admitted that divorce came up during the conversation. This was because he asked what would happen to their assets if they ever divorced.
That explanation did not sit well with Lateshia. She questioned why he would discuss those topics with an attorney rather than have the conversation with her first. As the discussion continued, Lateshia became increasingly frustrated by what she viewed as a lack of transparency.
Before ending the conversation, Lateshia said she needed time to process everything she had learned. In a confessional, she made it clear that she was upset. She also said Glen was fortunate to be out of town because she wasn’t ready to continue the discussion just yet.
Marie gives dating another chance.
After encouragement from her friends to get back out there, Marie agreed to go on a date with Carlos. Although she admitted she was nervous because it was her first date since ending her relationship with Cedric, she arrived hopeful and ready to see where things could go.
The two quickly found common ground while discussing their careers and families. Carlos shared that he works in the aerospace industry and has four children and grandchildren. Marie appreciated his openness and said his family situation wasn’t a concern for her.
As the conversation continued, Marie asked what he looks for in a partner and whether he was attracted to her. Carlos complimented her appearance and later revealed that he is also a singer. At Marie’s request, he serenaded her during the date, giving her the musical surprise featured in the episode.
While Marie enjoyed the attention, she admitted that grand romantic gestures have become a familiar pattern in her dating life. She explained that after dealing with infidelity in her previous relationship, honesty and communication are now non-negotiable. By the end of the evening, Marie said she enjoyed Carlos’ company and found him easy to talk to, but she wasn’t ready to decide whether he was the right man for her just yet.
Kerri clashes with her mother-in-law.
Kerri and Matt met with Matt’s mother, Marlene, to discuss their marriage and family dynamics. Knowing the discussion could become uncomfortable, Kerri invited her own mother to be present as support.
At first, Kerri spoke about the businesses she has built and the community work she continues to pursue. Marlene, however, questioned whether Kerri’s professional ambitions were taking too much attention away from her responsibilities at home. She argued that Matt often has to pick up the slack and suggested that Kerri should spend less time on business and more time on family.
Kerri strongly disagreed with that assessment. She explained that her businesses help provide opportunities for others and contribute to her family’s financial security. She also said that being a wife and mother does not mean she has to give up her personal goals. “I own a $3 million business, and that’s a lot for a woman to take on,” Kerri said, adding that she is proud of everything she has accomplished.
The discussion became more heated when Marlene said she believes family should always come first and suggested Kerri has become too focused on outside commitments. Kerri countered that she has worked hard to build a life in which she can be both a successful entrepreneur and a devoted wife and mother. She also questioned why women are often expected to sacrifice their dreams while men are praised for pursuing theirs.
As tensions continued to rise, Kerri’s mother stepped in to defend her daughter and praised her for balancing multiple responsibilities. Marlene remained unconvinced and maintained that Kerri’s priorities are misplaced. By the end of the meeting, neither woman had changed her position, leaving the family at an impasse.
Marie, Tambra, and Latrice discuss Lateshia and Glen.
Marie met up with Tambra and Latrice to catch up on everything happening in their lives. The conversation began with Marie sharing details about her recent date. She said she enjoyed herself and appreciated the effort her date put into making the evening special, including serenading her during dinner.
The women then shifted their focus to Latrice’s plans for the future. After discussing her upcoming fibroid surgery, Latrice revealed that she still wants to have a child. She explained that recent events have changed her perspective and reminded her that life is short. While Marie supported her happiness, she questioned whether now was the right time to focus on having a baby. She suggested instead focusing on prioritizing her health.
As the conversation continued, the topic turned to Lateshia and Glen’s marriage. Marie said she believed Lateshia was more upset about learning the information from someone else than the actual conversation Glen had with an attorney. She questioned why the situation was discussed among friends before Lateshia had an opportunity to hear it directly.
Latrice saw things differently. She said Glen should have spoken to Lateshia before discussing divorce-related topics with anyone else. Tambra agreed that the situation was unfortunate but defended Selena’s decision to share what she had heard during a private conversation. Although the women had differing opinions about who handled the situation incorrectly, they all agreed that communication between Glen and Lateshia should have happened first.
Kerri fills Matt in after the tense meeting.
After her heated exchange with Marlene, Kerri sat down with Matt to vent about how the conversation unfolded. She told him she felt blindsided by the criticism and believed his mother crossed the line by questioning her abilities as a wife and mother.
Kerri said Marlene seemed determined to paint her as someone who puts work ahead of her family. She pushed back on that narrative and reminded Matt of everything she has done for their household over the years. From overseeing major home projects to helping launch business ventures, Kerri argued that she has consistently stepped up when her family needed her.
The discussion then shifted to Matt’s role in the situation. Kerri questioned whether Marlene’s comments were based on conversations she had previously had with him. She told Matt that one of the biggest sources of tension in their marriage has always been finances and his mother’s involvement in their personal business. Kerri also made it clear that she wanted Matt to defend her when family members criticize her.
Matt acknowledged that his mother’s views are shaped by her own marriage and upbringing. He explained that Marlene was a stay-at-home wife and mother, while his marriage to Kerri operates very differently. According to Matt, Kerri is focused on building businesses and creating long-term opportunities for their family, and he understands that her priorities are not the same as his mother’s were.
Although Kerri remained frustrated by the situation, Matt reassured her that Marlene’s opinions are her own and do not reflect how he feels about his wife. By the end of the conversation, the couple appeared to be on the same page, with Matt encouraging them to move forward together instead of letting outside opinions create division in their marriage.
Latrice and Cliff reach an impasse over having a baby.
After learning that Latrice’s mother had spoken to Cliff about expanding their family, the couple revisited a conversation that has become a major source of tension in their marriage. Latrice made it clear that she still wants to have a child, while Cliff remained firm in his position that he does not.
Cliff explained that he has already raised five children and feels like that chapter of his life is behind him. According to him, he is at a point where he wants to enjoy life without taking on the responsibilities that come with raising another child. Latrice pushed back, arguing that his experience as a father is exactly why he should understand her desire to become a parent.
The discussion became more heated when the couple reflected on the past. Cliff pointed out that he wanted children years ago when Latrice was not ready. In response, Latrice said she believes women should have children when they feel prepared. She added that her feelings have changed over time.
When the conversation turned to logistics, Latrice said they could hire help and lean on family support if necessary. Cliff wasn’t convinced and stressed that raising a child requires much more than financial resources. In addition, he questioned whether they were being realistic about what parenting would look like at this stage of their lives.
In a confessional, Latrice admitted that Cliff has mentioned divorce more than once when discussing the issue. She said his comments no longer feel like jokes and warned that refusing to have a child could ultimately end their marriage. By the end of the conversation, neither person had changed their stance. As a result, one of the biggest disagreements in their relationship remained unresolved.
